The Centre for Fire Explosive & Environment Safety (CFEES), a premier system laboratory of DRDO under the Ministry of Defence, has issued advertisement No. CFEES/HRD/PDINTERN/2026/01 for paid internships across six engineering and science disciplines. CFEES works on Fire, Explosive & Environment Safety Technologies for the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force. Internship is for 6 months at CFEES Timarpur, Delhi or SDC Pilkhua, Uttar Pradesh. Final-year UG engineering students and final-year PG science students with strong academic records can apply by speed post.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• Engineering Students: Pursuing UG (Final Year — 7th or 8th semester) from AICTE/UGC approved universities
• Science Students: Pursuing PG (Final Year — 1st or 2nd year) from AICTE/UGC approved universities
• You must have a strong academic record with at least 80% marks or CGPA of 8.0 on a 10-point scale (copy of marksheet to be enclosed)

Other Requirements

• Principal or Director of your institution must provide a request/referral letter for highly deserving meritorious students
• Brief Bio-data of less than 300 words required
• You should be physically present at CFEES for a minimum of 15 working days per month

Age Limit

• Maximum age: Below 28 years

Stipend

• Monthly stipend: Rs. 5,000 per month
• Stipend is paid in 2 installments — first installment after 3 months of training
• Stipend will be paid directly to the bank account of the student
• No boarding or lodging expenses are admissible. However, lunch, tea and snacks are available at the CFEES canteen at subsidised rates
• No payment is made if a student does not complete a minimum of 3 months

Selection Process (Merit-Based)

Selection is purely on merit basis — no written exam or interview:

1. Application Screening: Based on academic record (80%+ marks or 8.0+ CGPA)
2. Referral Letter Check: The institution's Principal/Director must endorse the student
3. Merit-Based Shortlisting: Shortlisted students will be notified about joining procedures
4. Medical Fitness Verification: Medical fitness certificate from MBBS+ practitioner required at joining
5. Document Verification: Original certificates, Aadhaar, college ID and marksheets verified at joining

No communication will be made with rejected candidates.

2. Fill in the application format with personal details, college details, discipline, branch code, CGPA/marks and a brief bio-data (under 300 words)
3. Attach UG/PG marksheets reflecting CGPA, copy of Aadhaar card, and the referral letter from your Principal/Director (on college letterhead)

• Carry out project work in your assigned discipline at CFEES Delhi or SDC Pilkhua
• Maintain a minimum of 15 working days per month of physical attendance at CFEES
• Assist scientists and engineers in research and development tasks related to fire, explosive and environment safety
• Follow all safety protocols and security guidelines applicable to defence establishments
• Adhere to the Indian Official Secrets Act, 1923 and IT rules of the Ministry of Defence
• Submit a project report at the end of the internship for evaluation
• Clear the project evaluation to receive the Certificate of Completion
