DPIT Internship Scheme 2026 - 5 Posts

Defence Production IT Division, under the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, has released the DPIT Internship Scheme 2026-27. DPIT handles IT initiatives for the Department of Defence Production, and this internship is meant for students who want practical experience in web application development, AI/ML, and UI/UX/Graphic Design. The notice clearly says the internship is not employment and does not guarantee future employment with DPIT.

Who Can Apply?

  • Nationality: You must be an Indian student from a recognized university in India.

Stipend and Internship Terms

  • Stipend: Rs. 15,000 per month, subject to satisfactory performance certified by the Project Mentor.
  • Duration: The internship period is 6 months.
  • Leave rule: The stipend is subject to maximum one leave in a month. If more leaves are taken, payment will be made pro rata.
  • Payment mode: Stipend is paid electronically through NEFT/RTGS.
  • Logistics: Interns must arrange their own accommodation and transport. DPIT provides working space, internet facility, and other necessary support as deemed fit.

Internship Conditions You Should Know

  • Work location: The internship is offered at DPIT, New Delhi, where interns work with DPIT mentors.
  • Not a job: The scheme clearly says the internship is not employment and does not promise employment with DPIT.
  • Confidentiality: Interns must protect DPIT documents, data, reports, software, systems, processes, and other confidential information during and after the internship.
  • Project report: Interns must submit a project or assignment report at the end of the internship and furnish a no-demand certificate.

Selection Process

DPIT selection has screening and IT skill test stages:

  1. Preliminary Screening: A committee checks applications against the scheme and academic criteria.
  2. Merit Shortlisting: Screening is based on average marks/grade secured in B.E/B.Tech/MCA results available on or before the notification date.
  3. IT Skill Test: Shortlisted candidates will attend the IT Skill Test on 15 June and 16 June 2026.
  4. Final Selection: Final list is scheduled for 19 June 2026, followed by confirmation from selected candidates by 23 June 2026.

Tie rule: If marks are tied, DPIT considers marks in the last two semesters, then higher age, then alphabetical order of name.

Responsibilities

  • Build and support assigned web application development tasks under DPIT mentors
  • Assist with AI/ML, UI/UX, or graphic design work based on the selected domain
  • Follow DPIT office timings, code of conduct, and confidentiality rules
  • Maintain confidentiality of documents, data, software, processes, and systems accessed during internship
  • Prepare and submit a project or assignment report at the end of the internship
  • Submit the required no-demand certificate and project report in soft and hard copy
  • Work professionally with DPIT mentors and hand over all assets at the end of internship
