DRDM Puducherry Deputy Tahsildar Recruitment 2025 — 30 Posts

The Government of Puducherry, through its Department of Revenue and Disaster Management, is conducting a Written Competitive Examination to fill 30 vacant posts of Deputy Tahsildar. The notification was issued under No. 5882/Rev-Estt/A2/2023. Deputy Tahsildars play a key role in revenue administration, land record management, and disaster response across the Union Territory of Puducherry, which includes the regions of Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe, and Yanam.

Educational Qualification

  • Essential: A Degree in any subject from a recognised University or its equivalent
  • Desirable: A Degree in Law from a recognised University
  • Your qualification must have been obtained on or before 27 June 2025

Nativity / Residence

  • You must be a native of the Union Territory of Puducherry, or a resident of Puducherry for at least 5 continuous years before the date of notification
  • On selection, you need to provide a fresh Nativity/Residence Certificate issued by an officer of DRDM not below the rank of Deputy Tahsildar

Age Limit

Salary

Selection Process

Selection will be based entirely on a Written Competitive Examination. There is no interview.

  1. Written Examination (Paper I): 100 objective questions, 100 marks, 2 hours — covering General Intelligence & Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, General Studies & Current Affairs, Ethics & Morality, English Language (Literature, Grammar, Comprehension), and Computer Knowledge
  2. Written Examination (Paper II): 100 objective questions, 100 marks, 2 hours — covering Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics, Geography & Social Science, Constitution of India, Indian Polity & Governance, and Indian History & World History (Freedom Struggle, Modern/Contemporary India)
  3. Certificate Verification: Provisionally selected candidates will be called for document and certificate verification

Important exam details:

  • Negative marking: 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer. Multiple answers for a question are also treated as wrong.
  • Exam language: Bilingual — English plus one regional language (Tamil, Telugu, or Malayalam). You must choose your preferred language while filling the application.
  • Answering mode: Shade the correct answer using a Black Ball Point Pen only
  • Exam centres: Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe, and Yanam

Minimum qualifying marks:

  • Unreserved: 30%

Responsibilities

  • Handle revenue administration tasks including land records management, survey, and settlement operations in assigned areas
  • Assist the Tahsildar in land revenue collection, land registration, and maintaining revenue records
  • Manage disaster relief operations and coordinate emergency response activities at the sub-divisional level
  • Prepare and maintain land-related documents such as pattas, revenue records, and encumbrance certificates
  • Work with village-level officers to resolve land disputes and process revenue applications from citizens
  • Monitor and supervise Village Assistants, Village Administrative Officers, and Revenue Inspectors in day-to-day operations
  • Follow government orders related to nativity certificates, community certificates, income certificates, and other revenue services
  • Assist in conducting elections, census operations, and other government drives as assigned by the District Collector

Exam Pattern

The selection is through a Written Competitive Examination consisting of two papers in two sessions. Both papers are objective type (MCQ) with 100 questions carrying 1 mark each (total 200 marks). Each paper has a time limit of 2 hours.
