District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Puducherry Consultant Recruitment 2026 - 5 Posts

The District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Puducherry has released a notification to engage 5 retired Assistant Engineers or Junior Engineers (Civil) as Consultants under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen), and Member of Parliament Local Area Development Schemes (MPLADS). This is a great opportunity for retired civil engineering officials to keep contributing to rural infrastructure work on a contractual basis. The initial engagement is for six months and may be extended for further similar terms depending on project requirements.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Eligibility: You must be a retired Assistant Engineer (Civil) or Assistant Engineer on CDC (Civil), or a retired Junior Engineer (Civil), from the Central Government, State/UT Government, PSU, or an Autonomous Body, having held Pay Level-7 or above.
• Experience: You should have hands-on experience preparing estimates, DPRs (Detailed Project Reports), and tender documents for civil projects, handling e-Tender procedures, and executing or supervising civil works.
• Knowledge: You should have sufficient knowledge of the e-Tender (Material Component) process, the Convergence Scheme, and the formation and execution of Planning Committees.
• Other conditions: You should be medically fit, and you must not have been terminated or compulsorily retired from your earlier government service.
• Nature of engagement: This is a full-time contractual role. You may need to work on holidays when required, without additional payment.

Age Limit

• The maximum age limit for this post is 65 years, as on the date of notification (07 July 2026).
• This engagement is meant only for already-retired officials, so no minimum age or separate relaxation is specified.

Salary

• Your monthly pay will be fixed by deducting your basic pension from the last pay drawn at the time of your retirement.
• For example, if you retired in Pay Level 13 with a last pay of Rs. 1,55,900 and a basic pension of Rs. 77,950, your consultancy pay would be fixed at around Rs. 77,950 per month.
• If you had commuted a part of your pension, the commuted portion is still included while calculating your fixed pay.
• This amount stays the same throughout your contract period — there is no annual increment or percentage increase.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam or interview for this engagement. Selection is based on scrutiny of your application:

1. Application Screening: DRDA checks your application and supporting documents against the eligibility criteria listed above.
2. Document Verification: You need to submit original certificates proving your retirement, Pay Level at retirement, and civil engineering qualification and experience.
3. Agreement Execution: If selected, you will sign a formal agreement with DRDA before starting your engagement.

DRDA reserves the right to accept or reject any application without assigning a reason, and can cancel this recruitment at any stage.
