DRAT Delhi is hiring Law Researchers on a contract basis for DRAT Delhi, DRT-I Delhi, and DRT Jaipur. If you have an LLB or LLM degree with at least 55% marks, you can apply by email. DRAT Delhi Law Researcher Recruitment 2026
The Debts Recovery Appellate Tribunal (DRAT), Delhi, under the Ministry of Finance, Department of Financial Services, has released a vacancy circular for engagement of Law Researchers on a contract basis. One Law Researcher will be engaged at each of DRAT Delhi, DRT-I Delhi, and DRT Jaipur — all under the jurisdiction of DRAT Delhi. This is a purely contractual arrangement that does not give any right to permanent government employment. The contract starts for one year and can be extended up to three years based on performance.

Who Can Apply?
- Qualification: You must have a Bachelor Degree in Law (LLB), including integrated law degree, or LLM with a minimum of 55% marks from a college/university established by law in India and recognised by the Bar Council of India for enrolment as an Advocate.
- Computer Knowledge: You must have sound knowledge of computer applications, including the ability to retrieve information from legal databases and online search engines.
- Note: During the engagement period, you cannot practise as an advocate or take any other employment. You will also not be allowed to appear before the same tribunal for 3 years after the contract ends.
Age Limit
- You should be between 21 and 30 years old as on the last date of receipt of applications (30 April 2026).
Salary
- Fixed monthly honorarium of Rs. 60,000 (Sixty Thousand only) per month.
- This revised rate applies to all new appointees as per the DFS order dated 16 May 2025.
- The honorarium is paid from the professional fee head of the respective DRAT/DRT.
- You are entitled to 12 days of paid leave per year, subject to a maximum of 3 days per month.
- No honorarium is paid for unauthorised absence or leave beyond the permissible limit.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)
Selection is based on shortlisting and interview only:
- Application Shortlisting: Applications are reviewed by the Chairperson of DRAT. Shortlisting is based on your academic performance and extracurricular achievements.
- Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates appear before a Selection Committee headed by the Chairperson of DRAT, which also includes the Presiding Officer of DRT and a representative from the Department of Financial Services.
- Final Engagement: The Selection Committee finalises the appointment based on suitability assessed in the interview.
A reserve pool of 2 candidates is identified against each post, valid for one year.

Responsibilities
- Read case files and prepare notes including chronology of events and key legal issues
- Identify facts, questions, and legal issues that may arise or need to be addressed during hearings
- Attend court hearings and take detailed notes of arguments and legal citations
- Research case law, books, and articles to assist the Chairperson and Presiding Officer in preparing judgments
- Assist the Chairperson or Presiding Officer in preparing speeches and academic papers
- Prepare brief case summaries as directed by the Chairperson of DRAT or Presiding Officer of DRT
- Maintain strict confidentiality about all matters that come to notice during the assignment
- Follow official working hours of the DRAT/DRT and mark attendance on a daily basis
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
LLB / Integrated Law Degree / LLM with minimum 55% marks from a Bar Council of India recognised institution
Preferred Qualification
LLM or higher academic achievement in law
Required Skills
Sound knowledge of computer applications, legal database research, and online information retrieval

Exam Pattern
There is no written examination for this post. Selection is done through shortlisting of applications followed by a personal interview.
Stage 1: Shortlisting
- Applications are placed before the Chairperson of DRAT for review.
- Shortlisting is based on academic performance (marks and achievements) and extracurricular achievements.
Stage 2: Personal Interview
- Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview before the Selection Committee.
- The committee is headed by the Chairperson of DRAT and includes the Presiding Officer of DRT (nominated by the DRAT Chairperson) and a representative from DFS.
- Final engagement is decided based on the candidate's suitability as assessed in the interview.
