On the directions of the Madhya Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, Jabalpur, the District Legal Services Authority, Narsinghpur has invited applications to fill 3 contractual posts at its Legal Aid Defence Counsel office. This covers 1 Office Assistant, 1 Receptionist-cum-Data Entry Operator, and 1 Office Peon (Attendant). The engagement is on a one-year contract basis under the NALSA Legal Aid Defence Counsel Modified Scheme, 2022 — a nationwide scheme that provides free legal aid and defence counsel support to undertrial prisoners and needy litigants through District Legal Services Authorities. Candidates from Madhya Pradesh who meet the qualification for their chosen post can apply — but remember you can apply for only one post category.

Who Can Apply?

For Office Assistant:

  • You need a graduate degree from a recognized university.
  • You should know general word processing and computer operation, including data entry work.
  • You must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
  • You should know how to maintain and process office records.

For Receptionist-cum-Data Entry Operator:

  • You need a graduate degree from a recognized university.
  • You should have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • You should know word processing and data processing.
  • You must be able to work on telephone, fax, and other telecommunication equipment.
  • You should have a good, skilled typing speed.

For Office Peon (Attendant):

  • You need to have passed Class 8 from any recognized board.

Note: You can submit an application for only one post category, not more than one.

Eligibility Restrictions

You will not be eligible for these posts if any of the following apply to you:

  • You have been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude.
  • You are not mentally sound.
  • You have been convicted of a crime against women.
  • You were dismissed from a government job, public sector undertaking, or local authority.
  • A departmental inquiry is currently pending against you at any office.
  • You have been debarred from appearing in any examination conducted by the UPSC, a State Public Service Commission, or a High Court.
  • You have been involved in any activity against the unity, integrity, or security of India, or against the Constitution.

You must clearly disclose in your application if any criminal case is pending against you in a court or police station, along with the case number and relevant section. Hiding information or giving false details can lead to cancellation of your candidature at any stage — even after selection. There is no provision for re-evaluation or re-interview once results are declared, and any related representations will not be accepted.

Age Limit

  • You should be between 18 and 35 years old as on 07 July 2026, for all three posts.

Salary

  • Office Assistant: Rs. 12,500 per month (consolidated honorarium).
  • Receptionist-cum-Data Entry Operator: Rs. 12,000 per month (consolidated honorarium).
  • Office Peon (Attendant): Rs. 10,000 per month (consolidated honorarium).

Selection Process

The selection method is different for each post:

  1. Office Assistant & Receptionist-cum-Data Entry Operator: Interview plus a practical/computer proficiency test conducted by the selection committee.
  2. Office Peon (Attendant): Selection is based only on an interview by the selection committee.

The list of shortlisted eligible candidates will be released on 25 July 2026. Exam date, time and admit card details will be sent to you by post, so mention your complete postal address and WhatsApp number clearly in your application.

  3. Attach self-attested copies of your educational certificates, age proof, caste certificate (if applicable), domicile certificate, Aadhaar card, and PAN card.

Responsibilities

  • Handle day-to-day office administration and file management at the DLSA office
  • Enter and update case-related data using computer systems
  • Greet visitors, answer phone calls, and route queries to the right person
  • Maintain records of applications, letters, and legal aid case files
  • Operate fax, telephone, and other office communication equipment
  • Assist advocates and staff with typing and document preparation
  • Keep the office premises clean and assist with basic errands
  • Support the smooth day-to-day functioning of the Legal Aid Defence Counsel office
