The Office of the District Judge, Puri (Odisha) has released Advertisement No. 02 of 2026 dated 19 May 2026 for filling up 16 Group C vacant posts in the Judgeship of Puri. The recruitment covers three categories of posts — Junior Typist, Junior Clerk-cum-Copyist and Salaried Amin — under the Odisha District and Civil Courts' Judicial Staff Services Rules, 2008. Who Can Apply?

For Junior Clerk-cum-Copyist and Junior Typist:

  • You must be a citizen of India
  • You must have passed at least +3 examination (graduation) or equivalent from a recognised university
  • You must have passed at least a Diploma in Computer Application (DCA) from a recognised institute
  • You must be able to speak, read and write Odia and have passed a test in Odia equivalent to M.E. Standard
  • For Junior Typist only: you must have a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute on a computer system
  • Good character, sound health and no criminal antecedents are mandatory
  • You should have not more than one spouse living if married

For Salaried Amin:

  • You must be a citizen of India
  • You must have passed the Matriculation (10th) or equivalent examination from a recognised Board
  • You must have passed the Revenue Inspector Training from a recognised institute
  • Must also fulfil the Odia test, character, health and other conditions listed for the Clerk / Typist post

Age Limit

  • You must be over 18 years and below 42 years of age as on 19 June 2026 (the last date for receipt of applications)
  • Age Relaxation: Upper age limit is relaxed for women and reserved categories as per the Act, Rules and Orders in force, including SC / ST / SEBC / PwD / Ex-Servicemen as per Odisha Government rules

Salary

  • Junior Typist and Junior Clerk-cum-Copyist: Rs. 19,900 - Rs. 63,200 per month under Level-4 of the Pay Matrix (1st Schedule of O.R.S.P. Rules, 2017)
  • Salaried Amin: Rs. 21,700 - Rs. 69,100 per month under Level-5 of the Pay Matrix
  • Plus DA, HRA and other allowances as per Odisha Government rules

Selection Process

The District Recruitment Committee will conduct the examination in different stages for each post:

For Junior Typist:

  1. Written Test - English (qualifying): 100 marks, 2 hours
  2. Type Writing Test: 50 marks, 10 minutes (passage of 400 English words). Minimum qualifying marks: 55% (General / others), 50% (SC / ST)
  3. Computer Science Test (Practical): 100 marks, 1 hour. Cut-off: 50% (General / others), 40% (SC / ST)
  4. Viva-Voce Test: 35 marks

For Junior Clerk-cum-Copyist:

  1. Written Test: English (100 marks, 2 hours), Arithmetic (100 marks, 1 hour), General Knowledge (100 marks, 1 hour)
  2. Computer Science Test (Practical): 100 marks, 1 hour
  3. Viva-Voce Test: 45 marks

For Salaried Amin:

  1. Phase I - Written Examination: General English (50), Computer Written Test (50), Language Test - Odia (50), Arithmetic (100), General Knowledge (100)
  2. Phase II - Computer Science Test (Practical): 50 marks, 45 minutes

Responsibilities

  • Handle copying, file processing and clerical duties in the court establishment (for Junior Clerk-cum-Copyist)
  • Prepare and type court orders, judgments and official correspondence on computer (for Junior Typist)
  • Maintain case files, registers, dispatch records and other court documents
  • Conduct survey work, demarcation and field-level revenue duties under court orders (for Salaried Amin)
  • Assist judicial officers and senior court staff in day-to-day administrative work
  • Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence of the court
  • Operate computer systems for data entry, document formatting, printing and storage

Minimum Qualification

+3 (graduation) with DCA for Junior Typist / Junior Clerk-cum-Copyist; 10th pass with Revenue Inspector Training for Salaried Amin.

Exam Pattern

Selection involves a multi-stage examination conducted by the District Recruitment Committee, Puri. The stages differ slightly for each post.

Junior Typist - Selection Pattern

  • English Written Test (qualifying): 100 marks, 2 hours
  • Typewriting Test: 50 marks, 10 minutes (400-word English passage). Cut-off: 55% General / 50% SC-ST. For each correct word 0.125 marks awarded. Wrong spelling, substitution, repetition and wrong punctuation count as mistakes.

Junior Clerk-cum-Copyist - Selection Pattern

Salaried Amin - Selection Pattern

  • Phase II (Computer Practical): 50 marks, 45 minutes

Arithmetic syllabus (JCC): Vulgar Fractions and Decimals, HCF and LCM, Simple and Compound Interest, Percentage, Profit and Loss, Mixtures, Partnership, Averages, Rates and Taxes, Insurance, Square and Cubic Measures, Time & Work, Time & Distance.

English syllabus: Essay (30 marks), Letter / Application (20 marks), Odia-to-English translation (15 marks), English-to-Odia translation (15 marks), Summary of an English passage (20 marks).

Computer Practical syllabus: Paragraph formatting, table insertion, print and save, file transfer, website browsing, downloading, e-mail, pen drive use, accounting software.
