There is no written examination — applications are scrutinised by the District Judge and forwarded to the High Court for final selection. Who Can Apply?

• Service Requirement: You must hold or have held any post under the Government (Central or State).
• Legal Qualification: You must possess a degree in law, OR you must be well experienced in relation to legal affairs to the satisfaction of the High Court.
• Re-appointment: If you are an ex-SJM/SMM applying for re-appointment, you must enclose four best judgments delivered while holding the post of SJM/SMM.
• Character Roll: Self-attested photocopies of character roll entries of the last 5 years of your government job are required. Ex-SJMs appointed by the Government of Uttar Pradesh are exempt from this requirement.

Age Limit

• There is no minimum age specified for this post.
• The term of office continues until the candidate attains the age of 70 years, so applicants must be below 70 years on the date of appointment.

Salary

• Fixed honorarium: Rs. 45,000 per month
• Conveyance allowance: Rs. 5,000 per month
• Total monthly pay: Rs. 50,000 per month

Note: This is a fixed honorarium post, not a regular pay scale post. No DA, HRA or other allowances are paid over and above the conveyance allowance.

Selection Process

There is no written examination for this post. The selection is done in the following stages:

1. District-Level Scrutiny: The District Judge scrutinises every application received and forwards only the suitable ones to the High Court with his remarks.
2. High Court Review: The High Court reviews the forwarded applications based on government service record, legal qualification and experience.
3. Final Appointment: Selected candidates are appointed for a fixed term of 4 years from the date of joining, or till they attain the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier.

Important: A candidate selected for a specific district will not be transferred to any other district under any circumstances.

3. Attach a self-attested photograph and self-attested photocopies of all the supporting documents.

5. Submit the completed application along with all documents to the District Judge of the district you are applying for. Applications sent directly to the High Court will be rejected.
6. Make sure the District Judge forwards your application before the deadline of 25 July 2026.

• Follow all directions and procedural guidelines laid down by the Allahabad High Court

• Ensure timely disposal of cases to reduce pendency in the district court
