Selection Process (No Written Exam, No Interview)

BBMB selects apprentices purely on merit — there is no written exam and no interview. The process has 2 stages:

  1. Merit List: Prepared from your NAPS/NATS portal profile. For ITI candidates, merit = 30% weightage to 10th marks + 70% weightage to ITI marks in your trade. For Diploma candidates, merit = 30% weightage to 10th marks + 70% weightage to Diploma marks. For Graduate candidates, merit = 20% weightage to 10th marks + 20% weightage to 12th/Diploma marks (whichever is higher) + 60% weightage to your Graduation/PG aggregate — each carrying a maximum of 100 marks.
  2. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must appear for document verification with original certificates on a date decided by BBMB.

Reservation for locals: 25% of seats in every trade are reserved for candidates holding a residency certificate of Ropar, Bilaspur or Una districts (the Bhakra & Nangal Dam project area). If these seats remain unfilled, they go to residents of the concerned states, and finally to open merit. In case of a tie in marks, the older candidate is preferred; if birth dates also match, whoever passed matriculation earlier gets preference.

Important: Candidates whose qualifying exam results are still awaited on the last date of application will not be considered. Incomplete applications will be rejected without assigning any reason, and candidates absent during document verification will not be considered.

How to Apply

  1. If you hold an ITI certificate, go to the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) portal at apprenticeshipindia.gov.in.
  2. If you hold a Diploma or Degree, go to the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal at nats.education.gov.in.
