Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) Senior Research Fellow Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), a Deemed University under the Ministry of Defence (DRDO), is looking for a young Scientist/Engineer for the post of Senior Research Fellow (SRF) under Advt. No. 11-2026/SRF/DIAT. The fellow will work on a Ministry of Earth Science (MoES) sponsored project titled "Development of Automated Underwater Species Identification System using Deep Learning Techniques". This is a temporary, project-based post and selected fellows are encouraged to register for a Ph.D. at the institute.

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualification

• BE/B.Tech in CSE/ECE/IT/Robotics/Mechanical or equivalent, OR M.Sc in Maths/CS/Data Science/Statistics or equivalent in First Division with NET/GATE, OR
• ME/M.Tech in CSE/ECE/IT/Robotics/Mechanical or equivalent with First Division at both graduate and post-graduate level.

Experience

• A minimum of 2 years of research, teaching or industrial experience in the relevant field is mandatory.

Desirable

• Good publications or patents, or being a winner of a reputed AI-related hackathon or competition.

Age Limit

• Upper age limit: 32 years (as on 13 July 2026).
• Age Relaxation: Up to 5 years for SC/ST, Women and PwBD candidates, and 3 years for OBC (NCL) candidates.

Salary

• Monthly stipend: Rs. 42,000 per month plus 30% HRA.
• Medical facilities limited to MI Room facilities will also be extended.

Selection Process

Selection is done in the following way:

1. Screening of Applications: Based on suitability for the project, the Screening Committee shortlists candidates. If there are many applications, candidates may be shortlisted on qualifications and experience above the minimum.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview, held in person or via video conferencing. Each shortlisted candidate is informed by email. No TA/DA is paid for the interview.
