The Directorate of Health Services (MI), Meghalaya is hiring 45 doctors — 30 Medical & Health Officers and 15 Junior Specialists — on a contractual basis for postings across the State of Meghalaya. If you have an MBBS degree (for MHO) or MS/MD in Obstetrics & Gynaecology or Anaesthesiology (for Junior Specialist), you can attend a Walk-in Interview on 6th May 2026 at Shillong. Salary is Rs. 70,000 per month for Medical Officers and Rs. 90,000 per month for Junior Specialists. You must be a bonafide citizen of Meghalaya and should not have a government service bond.
DHS Meghalaya Medical Officer & Junior Specialist Recruitment 2026 — 45 Posts
The Office of the Director of Health Services (MI), Meghalaya has issued Advertisement No. HSM/EST/GZT/Advt/Dr/20/2026/1166 dated 09 April 2026, inviting applications from eligible doctors for 45 contractual posts under the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya. This includes posts for general MBBS doctors as Medical & Health Officers, and for postgraduate specialists in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Anaesthesiology as Junior Specialists. Selected doctors will be posted anywhere in the State of Meghalaya on a 1-year contract (extendable). The recruitment is through a direct Walk-in Interview — no written exam is required.

Who Can Apply?
For Medical & Health Officer (30 posts):
- Qualification: MBBS or equivalent degree from a recognised Medical Institution in India or abroad, duly registered with the Medical Council of India / National Medical Council of India.
- Internship: You must have completed Compulsory Rotatory Internship.
For Junior Specialist — Obstetrics & Gynaecology (6 posts):
- Qualification: MS (Obstetrics & Gynaecology) or equivalent degree from a recognised Medical Institution in India or abroad, duly registered with the Medical Council of India / National Medical Council of India.
For Junior Specialist — Anaesthesiology (9 posts):
- Qualification: MD (Anaesthesiology) or equivalent degree from a recognised Medical Institution in India or abroad, duly registered with the Medical Council of India / National Medical Council of India.
General Eligibility:
- Domicile: You must be a bonafide citizen of Meghalaya.
- Bond Status: You must be a Non-Bonded graduate/post-graduate (i.e., not under any government service bond).

- Minimum age: 25 years
- Maximum age: 50 years
Salary
- Medical & Health Officer: Rs. 70,000 per month (fixed pay)
- Junior Specialist (Obst & Gynae / Anaesthesiology): Rs. 90,000 per month (fixed pay)

Selection Process
Selection is through a Walk-in Interview — there is no written exam.
- Walk-in Registration: Report to Room No. 402, Directorate of Health Services (MI), Health Complex, Laitumkhrah, Shillong between 9:30 AM and 10:00 AM on 6th May 2026.
- Screening Committee Review: The Walk-in Interview will be conducted based on the recommendation of the Screening Committee.
- Document Verification: All original certificates and testimonials must be produced at the time of the interview.
The management reserves the right to reject any application without giving reasons.

Responsibilities
- Handle medical care and health services for patients at assigned government health facilities across Meghalaya
- Manage outpatient and inpatient consultations and treatment plans for patients
- Assist in clinical procedures, surgeries, and emergency interventions as per specialisation
- Maintain accurate patient records, case files, and medical documentation
- Follow the Terms of Reference (ToR) as per the letter of agreement signed at the time of joining
- Coordinate with the Health & Family Welfare Department on public health programmes and initiatives
- Work across postings anywhere in the State of Meghalaya as assigned by the department
