The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), West Singhbhum (Chaibasa) has released Advertisement No. 01/2026 to build a panel of Support Persons under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 and Rules, 2020. DCPU West Singhbhum Support Person (POCSO) Recruitment 2026
The Office of the District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner, Paschimi Singhbhum (Chaibasa), through its District Child Protection Unit (Jila Bal Sanrakshan Ikaai), is forming a panel of Support Persons at the district level. This recruitment is under the directions of the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Jharkhand, as per Notification No. 2685 dated 24.10.2024 and No. 526/SP-POCSO/JSCPS/2023-24-124 dated 15.01.2026. Support Persons help children who are victims of sexual offences by giving them emotional support, guiding them through the legal process, and making sure their rights are protected under Section 39 of the POCSO Act.
Who Can Apply?
Educational Qualification
- Graduate or Post-Graduate in Arts, Commerce, Law, Psychology, Social Work, Child Psychology (Bal Manovigyaan), or any related field from a recognized university
- Or a degree in any stream with at least 2 years of experience in a related sector
Work Experience
- Minimum 2 years of desirable experience in child rights, child protection, legal work, social work, psychology, or counseling
- Preferred: At least 1 year of experience working with DLSA/JHALSA/DCPO/CWC/JJB/POCSO courts
Domicile
- You must be a resident of Jharkhand with a valid local residence certificate issued as per government norms
- Local candidates from West Singhbhum district will be given priority during panel formation
Important Note
- Experience must be proved through original certificates from the employer — self-certified or photocopied service experience will not be accepted
Age Limit
- Minimum age: 35 years
- Maximum age: 60 years
- Age as on: Date based on notification references (24.10.2024 and 15.01.2026)
Compensation
- Per case fee: Maximum Rs. 5,000 per case
- Payment is on a per-case basis, not a fixed monthly salary
- Fees are paid as per Notification No. 526/SP-POCSO/JSCPS/2023-24-525, dated 09.05.2025
- Each Support Person can handle up to 10 cases at a time
- No TA/DA is provided

Selection Process
There is no written exam for this recruitment. Selection is based on merit and interview.
- Shortlisting: The Selection Committee will shortlist candidates who meet the eligibility criteria and publish the list on the district website and at the DC Office, Chaibasa
- Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview and assessed on qualifications, experience, and ability to work with children
- Panel Formation: A final panel will be created based on total marks scored
Scoring System
- Educational Qualification: Graduate = 6 marks, Post-Graduate = 3 marks, Other = 1 mark (max 10 marks)
- Work Experience: Maximum 10 marks per year of relevant experience (up to 10 marks total)
- Interview: Maximum 30 marks
Panel Details
- The panel will be valid for 3 years
- Performance will be reviewed annually
- Panel must have 60% female and 40% male members; if female candidates are not available, male candidates can fill those spots
- A criminal background check through local police will be done for all selected Support Persons
- If any criminal case is found against a listed Support Person, they will be removed from the panel

Responsibilities
- Assist child victims of sexual offences throughout the investigation and trial process under the POCSO Act
- Provide emotional and psychological support to the child and their family during court proceedings
- Keep the child informed about the progress of the case in a child-friendly manner
- Work with DLSA, CWC, JJB, and POCSO courts to ensure the child's rights are protected
- Follow the guidelines and directions issued by the DCPO and the Selection Committee for case handling
- Manage case records and maintain strict confidentiality of all case details
- Assist in coordinating healthcare, counseling, and rehabilitation services for the child victim
- Prepare reports and provide updates to the District Child Protection Officer as required
