Central University of Rajasthan (CURAJ) Chair Professor Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

CURAJ has released a notification for 1 Chair Professor in Environmental Sustainability and Climate Resilience, aimed at strengthening the university's scientific leadership and policy integration in addressing region-specific and national environmental challenges. The university has now extended the application deadline to 31 July 2026 (originally 6 July 2026) through Notification No. 6260 dated 16 July 2026, against the original Advertisement No. 5647 dated 22 May 2026. This is a prestigious, high-paying tenure position open to eminent academics from IITs, IISc, IIMs, NITs, Central Universities, and Institutes of Eminence, as well as outstanding professionals from industry with a strong research record.

CURAJ is located in the ecologically sensitive semi-arid region of Rajasthan, and the university positions itself as a natural laboratory for studying climate change, water scarcity, and environmental sustainability. This Chair Professorship aligns with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC), UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and NEP 2020. As Chair Professor, you would be expected to provide strategic leadership in environmental sustainability and climate resilience, promote policy-relevant interdisciplinary research connecting science, society, and governance, build national and international collaborations, and work towards securing external funding, industry partnerships, and CSR collaborations for the university.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: Master's Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade on a point scale), plus a PhD in Environmental Science, Atmospheric Science, or an allied field with an outstanding record of research and publications.
• Experience: You need a minimum of 10 years of teaching or research experience at a university or national-level institution, with evidence of high-impact publications, patents, or technology development in environmental sciences.
• Alternative Route: Outstanding professionals with a PhD in a relevant/allied/applied discipline and 10 years of experience from academia or industry can also apply, backed by documentary evidence of significant contribution to the field.
• Specialisation: Preference for candidates working in Environmental Sustainability, Climate Change and Resilience, Water Resources, Land Degradation, or Environmental Policy, or allied areas aligned with national priorities.
• Desirable: Proven experience leading large interdisciplinary research projects, recognised contributions to environmental policy or technology innovation, and national/international awards, fellowships, or memberships in professional societies.
• Foreign nationals, OCI, and NRIs with proven expertise may also be considered, subject to Government of India norms.

Age Limit

• The maximum age limit is 70 years, calculated as on the last date of the advertisement.

Salary

• You will get a consolidated pay of Rs. 2,00,000 per month, with a 3% annual increment during the tenure, subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
• No other allowances are admissible for this position.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

CURAJ will select the Chair Professor through a Selection Committee:

1. Screening of Applications: The committee reviews your CV, research credentials, publications, and vision plan for the Chair Professorship.
2. Selection Committee Evaluation: Shortlisted candidates are assessed on their academic leadership, research record, and specialisation match.

The University may also invite eminent persons for consideration through a nomination or search mechanism, in addition to the regular application process.

The appointment is purely contractual for a period of five years or until the end of the tenure, whichever is earlier, and does not carry any right to permanent absorption in the University. The University and the appointee will jointly own any intellectual property generated under the Chair. Any dispute arising from this recruitment falls under the jurisdiction of the Courts of Jaipur, Rajasthan.
