CSIR-Structural Engineering Research Centre (CSIR-SERC), Chennai is a national laboratory under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. Notification No. SE-2/2026 dated 08 May 2026 covers project staff engagement for Smart Village, vibration testing, sustainable structures, materials, mechanics, monitoring, and related projects. The engagement is purely temporary and contract-based, and it will end with the project or the permitted CSIR project-staff tenure.

Who Can Apply?

Project Associate-I

• Qualification: You need B.E./B.Tech in Civil, Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Applied Mechanics, or related engineering fields as listed for each project.
• Useful requirement: A valid GATE score gives the higher pay slab where the notice allows it.

Project Associate-II

• Qualification: You need B.E./B.Tech in the relevant field with 2 years research and development experience, or a relevant M.E./M.Tech/M.S where the project permits it.
• Preferred skills: Structural analysis software, finite element analysis, CFD analysis, MATLAB, C, C++, Python, CAD, earthquake engineering, and experimental techniques.

Project Assistant-II

• Qualification: You need a 3-year Diploma in Civil, Mechanical, Architecture, Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation Engineering and Technology, or an equivalent field.
• Preferred skills: Mix design, casting and testing of concrete, structural steel detailing, AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, sensors, MATLAB, LabView, data analysis, and experimental setup work.

Age Limit

• Maximum age for all listed posts is 35 years.
• Age reference date: Age is counted as on the interview date, 21 May 2026.
• Age relaxation: Upper age is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST/Women/PwD and 3 years for OBC candidates.

Salary

• Project Assistant-II: Rs. 20,000 per month plus HRA.
• Project Associate-I: Rs. 31,000 plus HRA for GATE holders; Rs. 25,000 plus HRA for non-GATE candidates.
• Project Associate-II: Rs. 35,000 plus HRA for candidates selected through CSIR-UGC NET, GATE, or national-level selection processes; Rs. 28,000 plus HRA for others.

Selection Process

The main selection event is an offline interview on 21 May 2026 at CSIR-SERC, Chennai.
