NIT Goa Student Counsellor Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

National Institute of Technology Goa (NIT Goa) has released an advertisement (No: NITGOA/RECT/CONT/2026/OW/43 dated 14 May 2026) inviting applications for the post of Student Counsellor on a purely temporary basis. The role is initially for 6 months and may be extended by another 6 months based on performance. There is no written exam — selection is through interview only. This is a great fit for trained counsellors who want to support students in a top engineering institute without a full-time commitment.

Who Can Apply?

You can apply if you meet any one of the following three qualification routes:

Route 1: Psychology Graduate

• B.A/B.Sc in Psychology with a Certificate or Diploma in Counselling
• Minimum 3 years of experience providing counselling to students at educational institutes

Route 2: Psychology Postgraduate

• M.A/M.Sc in Psychology
• Minimum 2 years of experience providing counselling to students at educational institutes

Route 3: Medical with Psychiatry

• MBBS with Master's or Diploma in Psychiatric Medicine
• Minimum 1 year of experience providing counselling to students at educational institutes

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 50 years
• No minimum age is mentioned in the notification.

Salary

• Consolidated pay: Rs. 40,000 per month
• Working hours: 3 days per week, 3 hours each day
• Contract is initially for 6 months, extendable by another 6 months based on satisfactory performance

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is done in the following stages:

1. Shortlisting: Based on application details and qualification. Shortlisting criteria may be set higher than the advertised minimum if many applications are received.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. Date and timing will be shared by email only.

Just meeting the essential qualification does not guarantee an interview call. Incomplete applications will be rejected.

• Mediate and resolve conflicts so personal issues do not block academic progress
• Design counselling programmes like alcohol and drug prevention and peer mentoring
• Guide students in choosing courses, career paths, and educational plans
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Institute for student welfare
