CSIR-NEERI has released a walk-in interview notification for 4 Project Assistant-II and Project Associate-I posts in their Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) division at Nagpur. Candidates with B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Botany, Zoology, Fishery, Forestry, Environmental Science, or Agriculture can attend the walk-in. The walk-in interview is on 24 March 2026. Salary ranges from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 31,000 per month plus HRA.

CSIR-NEERI Project Assistant & Associate Recruitment 2026 - 4 Posts

CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI), Nagpur has invited applications for 4 project staff positions across two R&D projects related to riparian ecosystem conservation in Chhattisgarh. The projects focus on the conservation and management of rivers, nalas, and riparian ecosystems near coal mining areas. No application fee is required and selection is through a walk-in interview at CSIR-NEERI, Nagpur. Both freshers with B.Sc. and M.Sc. in life sciences and environmental science can apply.

Who Can Apply?

For Project Assistant-II (PA-II):

• Qualification: You need a B.Sc. in Botany, Zoology, Fishery, Forestry, Environmental Science, or Agriculture from a recognised university.
• Experience: Not required. Freshers can apply.

For Project Associate-I (PAT-I):

• Qualification: You need an M.Sc. in Botany, Zoology, Fishery, Forestry, Environmental Science, or Agriculture from a recognised university.
• Experience: Not required. Freshers can apply.

Result awaited or final semester candidates are not eligible to apply. You must have at least a provisional certificate.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 35 years as on the last date of receipt of applications.
• Age Relaxation: OBC candidates get 3 years relaxation, SC/ST candidates get 5 years relaxation, and PwBD candidates get 10 years relaxation as per CSIR rules.

Salary

• Project Assistant-II: Rs. 20,000 per month + HRA. You will get a 15% increment after completing 3 years in the same project.
• Project Associate-I (with NET/GATE): Rs. 31,000 per month + HRA for candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC/ICAR/ICMR NET or GATE, or equivalent national-level exams conducted by central government departments like DBT/DST.
• Project Associate-I (without NET/GATE): Rs. 25,000 per month + HRA for candidates who do not have NET/GATE qualification.

Selection Process

Selection will be done in a single stage:

1. Walk-in Interview: You need to attend the walk-in interview at CSIR-NEERI, Nehru Marg, Near Ajni Square, Nagpur - 440020 on 24 March 2026. Report between 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. The gate will close at 11:00 AM sharp.

If a large number of applications are received, a screening committee may shortlist candidates before the interview.

How to Apply

2. Bring the filled application form along with all original documents and one set of self-attested photocopies.
3. Carry a passport-size photograph, Aadhaar card, 10th (SSC), 12th (HSC), Graduate/Postgraduate marksheets, and Degree certificates.
4. Reach CSIR-NEERI, Nehru Marg, Near Ajni Square, Nagpur - 440020 on 24 March 2026.
5. Report at the venue between 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM. Late entry will not be allowed.

• Conduct field studies and ecological surveys in riparian ecosystem areas of Chhattisgarh
• Collect water, soil, sediment, and biological samples from rivers, nalas, and surrounding areas
• Analyse samples in the laboratory and record observations accurately
• Assist in preparation of environmental assessment and management reports
• Maintain proper records of field data, sample logs, and analysis results
• Support the project team in preparing conservation and management plans for riparian ecosystems
• Follow safety protocols during fieldwork near coal mining and river areas
