CSIR-Innovation Protection Unit (CSIR-IPU), New Delhi is hiring 12 Project Staff for the project titled "Intellectual Property Management" (IPM002601) through a walk-in-interview between 12 June 2026 and 18 June 2026. The posts include Project Scientist, Project Associate-Senior PAT and Project Assistant-II across 9 disciplines — Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, ECE, Physics, Biotech / Life Sciences, Chemistry, and Information Technology. Stipend ranges from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 56,000 per month plus HRA. The engagement is purely temporary and contractual, initially up to 31 March 2027.

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is an autonomous body under the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology. CSIR-Innovation Protection Unit (IPU) handles Intellectual Property work for CSIR and has filed over 12,000 patent applications in India and 11,000 abroad (including PCT, USA, Europe, China, Japan, Australia, Canada, South Africa, South Korea). Under Advertisement No. IPU/01/2026 dated 21 May 2026, CSIR-IPU is engaging 12 project staff for IP-related work. This is a walk-in-interview opportunity — no online application is required. Candidates with patent drafting / filing experience and PGDIPR or Patent Agent qualification are preferred.

Who Can Apply?
Project Scientist (PS-1) - Mechanical Engineering & Chemistry (Post Code 1 and 6)
- Doctoral Degree (Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering / Chemistry, OR
- Masters / Integrated Masters in Mechanical Engineering or Technology / Chemistry from a recognised University and 4 years' experience in patent drafting, filing, examination and renewal of patents in R&D / academic / S&T organisations.
- Desirable: PGDIPR or Patent Agent qualification. For Chemistry, ability to draft patents related to Sequence Listing.
Project Associate-Senior PAT (Post Code 2, 3, 4, 5, 7)
- Masters / Integrated Masters in the relevant discipline (Civil / ECE / Physics / Biotech-Life Sciences / Chemistry) and 2-3 years' experience in patent work, OR
- Bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline and 3 years' experience in patent drafting, filing, examination and renewal of patents.
- Desirable: PGDIPR or Patent Agent.
Project Assistant-II - Chemistry (Post Code 8)
- B.Sc. in Chemistry
- Desirable: PGDIPR or Patent Agent.
Project Assistant-II - Information Technology (Post Code 9)
- B.Sc. in IT or 3-year Diploma in Information Technology
- Desirable: Ability to work in SQL and ASP.net.
Other Conditions
- Indian nationals only.
- Final semester / result-awaited candidates are not eligible.
- If currently employed, you must furnish a No Objection Certificate from your present employer at the time of joining.
- Cut-off date for qualification, experience and age is the date of walk-in-interview.
Age Limit
- Project Scientist (PS-1): Maximum 35 years
- Project Associate-Senior PAT: Maximum 40 years
- Project Assistant-II (Chemistry): Maximum 35 years
- Project Assistant-II (IT): Maximum 35 years
- Upper age limit is reckoned as on the date of the interview.
- Age Relaxation: As per CSIR / Government of India rules on the subject.
Salary
- Project Scientist (PS-1): Rs. 56,000 per month + HRA (with 5% increment for every 2 years of experience in the same project)
- Project Associate-Senior PAT: Rs. 42,000 per month + HRA
- Project Assistant-II: Rs. 20,000 per month + HRA (with 15% increment after 3 years of experience in the same project)
- HRA is payable as per Government of India rules applicable to CSIR employees.
Selection Process (No Written Exam)
- Walk-in-Interview: Report at the CSIR-IPU reception desk between 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM on the scheduled date. Candidates arriving after 10:30 AM will not be entertained.
- Document Verification: Bring original certificates / testimonials and a set of self-attested copies in support of age, qualification, marks and experience.
- Test (if required): A written test may be conducted if necessary. The interview of shortlisted candidates will be on the same day or the next day.
- Final Selection: Based on (a) academic records, (b) performance in the test, and / or (c) interview.
If a large number of applications are received, the screening committee may adopt its own higher criteria for shortlisting. CSIR-IPU will also prepare a panel of waitlisted candidates valid for one year or until project completion, whichever is earlier.

Responsibilities
- Draft patent applications and prepare patent specifications in the assigned discipline
- File patent applications in India and abroad (PCT, USA, Europe, China, Japan, etc.)
- Handle patent examination, respond to office actions, and manage renewal of granted patents
- Conduct prior-art searches and patentability analysis for CSIR inventions
- Maintain records and IP databases related to the Intellectual Property Management project
- Coordinate with CSIR labs, scientists and external patent agents on IP-related matters
- Support copyright, design and other forms of IP filings handled by CSIR-IPU
- For IT post: Work with SQL and ASP.net systems to maintain IP databases and tools
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
B.Sc. (Chemistry / IT) / 3-year Diploma in IT for Project Assistant-II; Master's degree + experience for Project Associate-Senior PAT; Ph.D. or Master's with 4 years experience for Project Scientist (PS-1)
Preferred Qualification
PGDIPR (Post Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights) or Patent Agent qualification; for IT post, working knowledge of SQL and ASP.net
Required Skills
Patent drafting, patent filing, patent examination, patent renewal, IP database management, technical writing in the relevant scientific / engineering discipline

Allowances
HRA as per Government of India rules applicable to CSIR employees. 5% increment every 2 years for Project Scientist and 15% increment after 3 years for Project Assistant-II in the same project.
