Cotton University, Guwahati has released a notice (Advt. No. Recruitment/CU/2026/06) for one Junior Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow position in the Department of Physics. This fellowship is part of an IUAC-funded project titled "Production and slowing down of fast neutron beam produced using 15-UD Pelletron accelerator and HIRA facility for AD-BNCT investigations at IUAC, Delhi". There is no written exam — selection is based on your CV and a one-page research write-up sent by email. This role suits Physics postgraduates with hands-on nuclear or accelerator physics research experience.

The project aims to build a fast neutron beam production facility using IUAC's accelerators and experimental facilities. As the selected JRF/SRF, you will help with the physics design, run supporting simulations, and assist in fabricating the hardware. Once the facility is ready, you will carry out commissioning experiments using IUAC's sanctioned beam time, analyze the results, and help optimize its performance.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: Master's degree in Physics with specialization in Nuclear or Radiation Physics. You need First Class throughout your academic career starting from Class 10 (HSLC).
  • Experience: At least 2 years of research experience in nuclear and/or accelerator physics is compulsory.
  • Skills: You should be comfortable with advanced ion optical simulations, 3D AutoCAD design, and data analysis using ROOT or similar software.
  • Preferred: Hands-on experience in accelerator-based experiments and data analysis is an added advantage.

Age Limit

  • You should be under 30 years old.
  • Age Relaxation: SC/ST/OBC candidates and women candidates get relaxation as per Government of India norms.

Salary

  • If selected as JRF, you will get a fellowship of Rs. 25,000 per month.
  • If selected as SRF, you will get a fellowship of Rs. 28,000 per month.
  • No other allowances like HRA or medical benefits will be paid.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in the following stages:

  1. Screening of CV and Write-up: The project team reviews your one-page write-up and detailed CV.
  2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are informed by email for further discussion.

Responsibilities

  • Perform physics design and simulations for the fast neutron beam production facility
