About This Job

Coal India Limited (CIL), a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Coal, is hiring 276 Management Trainees in the Mining discipline (E-1 Grade) based on GATE-2025 scores. Coal India Limited (CIL) has released Advertisement No. 01/2026 dated 5 May 2026 for direct recruitment of 276 Management Trainees in the Mining discipline. CIL is the single largest coal producing company in the world, contributes around 75% of India's total coal production and has a manpower of 2.12 lakhs. Selection is purely on GATE-2025 score — no separate written exam by CIL. Posting can be anywhere in India in CIL or its subsidiary companies.

Who Can Apply?

  • GATE Score: You must have a valid GATE-2025 score in Mining (MN paper). GATE 2024 or earlier scores are not valid.
  • CGPA Conversion: If your degree is in CGPA/GPA/CPI, attach the conversion certificate from the University/Institute.
  • Final Year: Candidates who have passed their final semester examination as on the cut-off date are eligible.
  • Nationality: Only Indian Nationals are eligible.

Salary

  • Initial Basic Pay: Rs. 60,000 per month during 1-year training period

  • Plus Dearness Allowance, HRA, perquisites, allowances under cafeteria approach and Performance Related Pay (PRP)

Selection Process

Selection is based on GATE-2025 score with these stages:

  1. GATE-2025 Score Shortlisting: Candidates shortlisted category-wise in the ratio of 1:3 against vacancies.
  2. Tie-breaker: If two candidates have the same GATE score, the one with higher percentage/CGPA in qualifying degree is placed higher. If still tied, the senior candidate gets preference.
  3. Document Verification (DV)
  4. Initial Medical Examination (IME)
  5. Offer of Appointment issued only after DV and IME are cleared.

You must execute a service agreement bond of Rs. 3 Lakhs plus GST to serve CIL for a minimum of 60 months.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and supervise mining operations across CIL coalfields and subsidiary companies
  • Ensure safe, scientific and sustainable extraction of coal resources
  • Implement mine safety regulations and statutory compliance under DGMS
  • Manage day-to-day production targets, productivity and operational efficiency
  • Oversee blasting operations, drilling, transportation and dumping of overburden
  • Coordinate with engineering, electrical and mechanical teams for equipment uptime
  • Prepare technical reports, mine plans and statutory submissions
  • Lead a team of supervisors and workmen in the assigned mining unit

Minimum Qualification

Degree in Mining Engineering with minimum 60% marks (55% for SC/ST) plus valid GATE-2025 score in Mining (MN paper)

Required Skills

Knowledge of mining operations, mine safety, blasting, mine planning and statutory compliance
