CMFRI Project Associate-II and Project Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview

ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) is hiring for two project posts at its Veraval Regional Station in Gujarat, under the station's Mariculture Division. Both posts belong to a DBT-funded seaweed project, Sustainable Enhancement of Kappaphycus for Climate Resilience and Economic Development through Omics-driven Cultivar Improvement and Value Addition.

The project team will grow Kappaphycus seaweed, run trials both at sea and in land-based culture systems, collect samples and analyse them in the lab. This is a temporary contract engagement for up to two years, so it suits fisheries, marine biology and life-science graduates who want hands-on field and lab experience in seaweed farming research.

Posts and Disciplines

• Project Associate-II: the senior post for a postgraduate in Fisheries Science, Aquaculture, Marine Biology, Zoology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences or an allied subject. NET/GATE holders get preference, and knowledge of seaweed biology, land-based culture systems and biochemical assessment helps.
• Project Assistant: the support post for a graduate in Fisheries Science, Aquaculture, Marine Biology, Marine Science, Zoology, Botany, Biotechnology, Life Sciences or allied biological sciences. Experience with seaweed cultivation, field sampling and keeping experiment records is an advantage.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: Purely temporary, on contract for 2 years and/or co-terminus with the project.
• No regular job claim: The engagement does not make you a regular ICAR-CMFRI employee and gives no claim to permanent employment.
• Place of posting: You will be based at Veraval, but you can be sent to any other operational site the project needs.
• Cut-off for age and experience: Both are counted as on the closing date of the application.
• Relatives at ICAR/CMFRI: You must declare any near or distant relative working at ICAR or CMFRI in Annexure-II. Declaring it only on the interview day means you will not be interviewed.
• Working candidates: If you are employed now, you need a No Objection Certificate from your employer.
• Verification: Original certificates are checked before joining; any false claim leads to rejection or termination.

• For the senior post, the email subject must read "Application for the post of Project Associate-II (PA-II)".
• For the support post, the subject must read "Application for the post of Project Assistant (PA)".
• Applications sent to any other email, sent by post, sent late or left incomplete are rejected.
