The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Chengalpattu is selecting 30-40 Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) to assist police stations in cases of missing children and other offences against children. If you have passed 12th class (Plus Two) and are between 25 and 65 years old, you can apply online. PLVs receive an honorarium of Rs. 1,000 per visit, capped at Rs. 5,000 per case. Chengalpattu DLSA Para Legal Volunteer Recruitment 2026 - 30 to 40 Posts
The District Legal Services Authority, Chengalpattu has released Notification No. 03/2026 for the selection of Para Legal Volunteers as per the Supreme Court direction in Bachpan Bachao Andolan vs Union of India and Tamil Nadu G.O. (MS) No. 130 dated 12.03.2026. PLVs will be attached to police stations in Thambaram, Alandur, Pallavaram, Tirukazhukundram, Tirupporur, Madhurantakam and Cheyyur taluks to help rescue missing children, support victims of child labour and human trafficking, and rebuild a child-friendly community. This is a voluntary service — not a regular government job, and engagement is purely temporary.
Who Can Apply?
- Educational Qualification: You must have passed 12th class (Plus Two / HSC).
- Preference: Preference will be given to graduates and those with qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or related fields.
- Local residency: You should be a resident of Chengalpattu district.
- Political restriction: Members of political parties are not eligible to apply.

- Psychologists (mental health professionals)
- MSW students and teachers
- Anganwadi workers
- Social workers and members of non-political NGOs (excluding medical NGOs)

- Maximum age: 65 years
Honorarium
- Honorarium per visit: Rs. 1,000
- Maximum honorarium per case: Rs. 5,000
- This is a voluntary service. No salary, allowance, or daily wage will be paid.
- The honorarium is paid based on the attendance certificate issued by the concerned Station House Officer (SHO).
Selection Process (No Written Exam)
Selection is purely interview-based:
- Application Scrutiny: All applications received before the deadline will be scrutinised by DLSA Chengalpattu.
- Interview: Eligible candidates will be called for an interview by the District Legal Services Authority committee.
- Final List: The list of selected and non-selected candidates will be published on the official website chengalpattu.dcourts.gov.in.
Initially, selected PLVs will be enrolled for one year. The Chairman, DLSA may extend the engagement based on monthly performance reports.

Responsibilities
- Assist police inspectors at police stations during enquiries on missing children and offences against children
- Provide humane support to rescued children and gather necessary information
- Coordinate with police officials in handling missing children cases
- Provide follow-up care and counselling to rescued children
- Help connect children with available welfare schemes and rehabilitation services
- Visit jail clinics, juvenile homes, and relevant institutions as directed by DLSA
- Submit monthly activity reports to the District Legal Services Authority secretary
- Report directly to the SHO and DLSA-TLSC on emerging cases
Eligibility Criteria

Graduation, Diploma, qualification in Social Work or Psychology
Required Skills
Empathy, communication, knowledge of local community, ability to work with police and victims, basic child rights awareness
