The Centre for Excellence in Postal Technology (CEPT), working under the Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, is India Post's technology arm driving the IT 2.0 modernization project. Assistant Manager — Eligibility

  • Service criteria (any one):
    • Holding analogous posts on regular basis in your parent cadre or department, OR
    • 5 years of service in the grade after appointment on regular basis in Level 6 (Pre-revised PB-2 Rs. 9,300-34,800, Grade Pay Rs. 4,200) or equivalent
  • Qualification: Bachelor's Degree with Computer Science as a subject from a recognized university, OR Bachelor's Degree from a recognized university + 1-year Diploma in Computer Science
  • Experience: 2 years in Computer Software Development, Computer Software Testing, or System Administration in Central Government offices or their attached/subordinate offices

Technical Supervisor — Eligibility

  • Service criteria (any one):
    • Holding analogous posts on regular basis in your parent cadre or department, OR
    • 6 years of service in the grade on regular basis in Level 5 (Pre-revised PB-1 Rs. 5,200-20,200, Grade Pay Rs. 2,800) or equivalent, OR
    • 10 years of service in the grade on regular basis in Level 4 (Pre-revised PB-1 Rs. 5,200-20,200, Grade Pay Rs. 2,400) or equivalent
  • Qualification: Bachelor's Degree with Computer Science as a subject from a recognized university, OR Bachelor's Degree from a recognized university + 1-year Diploma in Computer Science
  • Experience: 1 year in Computer Software Development, Computer Software Testing, or System Administration in Central Government offices or their attached/subordinate offices

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 56 years as on the closing date of application (23 May 2026)
  • The deputation period (including any prior deputation) shall ordinarily not exceed 3 years

Salary

  • Assistant Manager (Level 7): Basic pay of Rs. 44,900 to Rs. 1,42,400 per month
  • Technical Supervisor (Level 6): Basic pay of Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400 per month
  • Pre-revised pay band: PB-2 Rs. 9,300-34,800 with Grade Pay Rs. 4,600 (AM) and Rs. 4,200 (TS)
  • Additional allowances include Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and Transport Allowance (TA) as per Central Government rules
  • Deputation allowance as per DoP&T guidelines is also applicable

Responsibilities

  • Handle development and maintenance of postal technology applications under India Post's IT 2.0 modernization project
  • Work on computer software development, testing, and deployment for postal and logistics solutions

  • Assist in user acceptance testing, pilot testing, and rollout activities for new applications
  • Prepare technical documentation including SRS, use cases, and O&M manuals
  • Monitor and resolve L2/L3 level technical support tickets and ensure SLA compliance
  • Follow established procedures for coordination between vendor teams, field-level staff, and project management consultants
