BHU Young Professional Recruitment 2026: Overview
The Institute of Agricultural Sciences at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi is holding a walk-in interview for Young Professional-I and Young Professional-II positions in research projects funded by the Uttar Pradesh Council of Agricultural Research (UPCAR), Lucknow. Each position is tied to one project and its Principal Investigator, and the work spans mustard, groundnut and maize improvement, Direct Seeded Rice, and value-added goat milk foods. These are temporary project positions that end with the project, so they suit agriculture and food technology graduates who want hands-on research experience at a central university.
The advertisement also appears on the ANGRAU recruitment page, but the hiring body is BHU and every interview takes place in Varanasi.
Posts and Disciplines
- Young Professional-I (Mustard and Groundnut): supports the project studying the genetics of major stresses to develop late-sown mustard varieties and elite groundnut varieties, along with standard farming practices for both crops. Principal Investigator: Dr. Kartikeya Srivastava (kartikeya@bhu.ac.in).
- Young Professional-I (Maize Landraces): joins the project that identifies and characterises maize landraces of Uttar Pradesh for their nutritional value and their tolerance to biotic and abiotic stresses. Principal Investigator: Dr. Jayasudha S. (jayasudha@bhu.ac.in).
- Young Professional-II (Goat Milk Processing): works on new processing methods and value addition of goat milk to create functional foods for better human health. This is the only post meant for food and dairy technology postgraduates. Principal Investigator: Dr. Tarun Verma (tarunverma@bhu.ac.in).
- Young Professional-I (Direct Seeded Rice): supports integrated research and innovation to speed up the Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) system across Uttar Pradesh. Principal Investigator: Dr. Kumari Shikha (shikhasingh@bhu.ac.in).
Choose the project that matches your background — the three Young Professional-I posts are field-crop roles for B.Sc. Agriculture graduates, while the Young Professional-II post is a food and dairy processing role.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Engagement: The posts are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project. The UPCAR funding covers a project period of three years.
- Consolidated pay: The monthly amount is a fixed, consolidated figure; the notice mentions no separate allowances.
- Different age caps: The Young Professional-II post allows a higher upper age than the three Young Professional-I posts, so check the cap for the post you pick.
- Interview travel: No TA/DA will be paid to candidates who come for the interview.
