About This Job
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) has released a vacancy circular to fill 1 post of Secretary on deputation basis. The post carries a salary in Pay Level 13 (Rs. 1,23,100 to Rs. 2,15,900) under the 7th Central Pay Commission. This is a senior administrative position where you will assist the Director General of BEE in day-to-day operations. The last date to apply is 16 May 2026.
BEE Secretary Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency, a statutory body established under the Energy Conservation Act, 2001 and operating under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, is looking to fill an anticipated vacancy of Secretary. BEE plays a key role in promoting energy efficiency across India, and the Secretary is an important administrative post that supports the Directorate General in running the bureau. This vacancy circular was issued under No. 13/06/2022-EC dated 25 March 2026.
Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualification
- You must be an officer of the Central Government, State Government, Statutory Body, or Autonomous Body under the Central or State Government
- You must hold a post not below the rank of Deputy Secretary to the Government of India
Desirable Experience
- Experience in the field of generation, transmission, distribution of power or energy conservation
- Experience in administrative, financial, and budgetary matters
Age Limit
- Maximum age: 56 years
- Age is calculated as on the closing date of receipt of applications (16 May 2026)
Salary
- Pay Level 13 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix
- Basic Pay range: Rs. 1,23,100 to Rs. 2,15,900 per month
- Equivalent to pre-revised Grade Pay Rs. 8,700 in Pay Band 4 (Rs. 37,400 - 67,000)
- Dearness Allowance (DA) at the rate applicable to Group A officers of the Central Government (currently around 60%)
- Additional benefits: Leave travel concession, travelling allowance, medical facilities, and other allowances as applicable to Group A officers
- If you are an officer of the Central or State Government, your pay from the parent government will be protected
- Approximate gross monthly salary: Rs. 1,97,000 to Rs. 3,45,000 (including DA)

Deputation Details
- The Secretary will hold office for a term of 3 years from the date of joining
- The term may be extended up to 5 years if considered necessary
- The deputation ends on the date of superannuation in the parent cadre, whichever is earlier
- Candidates who apply cannot withdraw their candidature after applying
Responsibilities
- Assist the Director General of BEE in day-to-day administrative functions of the Bureau
- Handle administrative, financial, and budgetary matters of the organization
- Manage coordination between BEE and the Ministry of Power on policy matters
- Prepare reports, presentations, and communications related to energy efficiency programmes
- Monitor implementation of energy conservation policies and schemes
- Follow up on regulatory compliance and coordination with designated consumers and agencies
- Assist in managing human resources, procurement, and general administration of BEE
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Officers of Central/State Government or Statutory/Autonomous Bodies holding post not below Deputy Secretary rank
Preferred Qualification
Experience in power/energy generation, transmission, distribution or energy conservation; experience in administrative, financial and budgetary matters

18 - 56 years (as on 16 May 2026)
