BBAU Sports Consultant Recruitment 2026: Overview

Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), a Central University in Lucknow, wants one senior sports professional as Consultant (Level-I) for Sports, Physical Education and Coaching. The university wants this person to tighten up sports administration, upgrade its grounds and facilities, get more students playing, and lift the results of its teams at Inter-University, State and National events. It is a full-time contractual engagement, not a regular post, and it is pitched at retired officers, senior sports administrators, experienced physical education staff and accomplished coaches.

There are two routes to qualify: a sports administration and physical education route built around an M.P.Ed. or a similar master's degree, and a coaching route built around a recognised coaching diploma from SAI, NSNIS or another recognised institution plus National Championship participation. BBAU will prefer people who have retired from a senior role in a government department, university, SAI or a recognised sports body, and those who have built sports infrastructure or guided teams to State, National or International recognition. BBAU calls these proposed criteria; the Competent Authority approves the final conditions under University, UGC and SAI rules.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The first engagement runs for six months or less, depending on the work. Extensions depend on your performance, the university's needs and the Competent Authority's approval.
• No permanent claim: The contract gives you no right to a regular or permanent post at BBAU, even after extensions.
• Campus: You can be attached to any BBAU campus, not only the main Lucknow campus.
• Pay terms: The consolidated pay is negotiable and depends on your last substantive position, experience and qualifications. It is released after the Controlling Officer certifies your work, and TDS is deducted from it.
• Pensioners: If you are a retired government or public-sector employee, you can keep drawing your pension and relief on pension; pay and pension are regulated under Government and University rules.
• Retiring government servants: You must already have retired by the closing date of applications.
• Leave: Only one day of leave per month besides holidays, with no carry-forward and no earned, half-pay or restricted holiday leave. Staying absent without notice for more than 15 days can end the contract.
• Notice and termination: You can resign with 15 days' written notice. BBAU can end the contract with 15 days' notice for poor performance, with one month's notice at any time, or immediately for misconduct.
• Travel: No TA/DA for joining or leaving, and no foreign travel at BBAU's cost. Official tours within India need prior approval.
• Role limits: You will not head a section or division and will not replace any sanctioned post. You must not take up work that conflicts with the university's interests during the contract.
• Confidentiality: You come under the Official Secrets Act, 1923, and the data and deliverables you produce belong to the university.
• Disputes: Any dispute falls under the courts in Lucknow.

Application Submission Notes

This is an offline application. Fill in the prescribed proforma attached to the notification and send it with your supporting documents to The Registrar, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Vidya Vihar, Raebareli Road, Lucknow-226025, Uttar Pradesh. Write "Application for the engagement of Consultant (Level-I)" on the envelope.

The proforma asks for your Aadhaar and PAN numbers with photocopies, your date of superannuation, your last office address, and the posts you held in the last 15 years before retirement with pay level and last pay drawn. Your application must reach the university by the last date, so post it early.

• Advise the university on sports policies, annual sports plans and development programmes
• Prepare the annual sports calendar for Inter-University, inter-college and intra-university competitions
• Build coaching and training programmes and spot promising athletes for further training
• Assess playgrounds, courts, gymnasiums and equipment and recommend upgrades and repairs
• Help host Inter-University and other approved competitions, coordinating with federations, SAI, coaches and officials
• Promote fitness, yoga and wider sports participation, including by women students and students with disabilities
• Help prepare sports budgets and keep records of results, coaching programmes, equipment and facilities
• Submit regular progress reports and recommendations to the Controlling Officer
