Who Can Apply?

This recruitment is only for eligible dependent family members of Assam Rifles personnel who fall under any of these categories:

  • Killed in Action (KIA) during duty
  • Died while in service
  • Discharged on medical grounds
  • Missing while in service

Only one dependent family member per deceased/disabled/missing personnel can apply.

Educational Qualification

  • Rifleman/Riflewoman GD & Technical Trades: Class 10 (Matriculation) pass from a recognized board. Technical posts also need relevant trade-specific ITI/diploma qualifications.
  • Havildar Clerk: Class 12 (Intermediate) pass from a recognized board
  • Warrant Officer Cipher: Class 12 (Intermediate) pass from a recognized board

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 28 years
  • Age as on: 1st January 2026

Age relaxation is applicable as per government rules for the compassionate ground appointment scheme.

Salary

  • Rifleman/Riflewoman GD & Technical Trades: Pay Level 3 -- Rs. 21,700 - 69,100 per month (basic pay)
  • Havildar Clerk: Pay Level 4 -- Rs. 25,500 - 81,100 per month (basic pay)
  • Warrant Officer Cipher: Pay Level 5 -- Rs. 29,200 - 92,300 per month (basic pay)
  • Allowances: Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, Risk Allowance, Ration Money Allowance, and other benefits as per 7th CPC norms
  • Approximate in-hand salary: Rs. 30,000 - 45,000 per month (depending on posting location and allowances)

Physical Standards

Male Candidates

  • Height: 170 cm (162.5 cm for candidates from hill areas and Scheduled Tribes)
  • Chest (Unexpanded): 80 cm (76 cm for hill area/ST candidates)
  • Chest (Expanded): 85 cm (81 cm for hill area/ST candidates)
  • Weight: Proportionate to height as per medical standards

Female Candidates

  • Height: 157 cm (150 cm for candidates from hill areas and Scheduled Tribes)
  • Weight: Proportionate to height as per medical standards

Selection Process

  1. Document Verification: You need to produce all original documents and certificates (age proof, educational qualifications, caste certificate, dependency certificate, and other relevant documents).
  2. Physical Standard Test (PST): Your height, weight, and chest measurements (for male candidates) will be checked using RFID-based systems. You must meet the minimum physical standards for your category.
  3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Male candidates need to complete a 5 km run within 24 minutes. Female candidates need to complete a 1.6 km run within 8 minutes 30 seconds.
  4. Written Examination: A written test covering general knowledge, reasoning, mathematics, and language skills.
  5. Trade/Skill Test: For technical posts, you will be tested on your trade-specific skills. For Havildar Clerk, a typing test may be conducted.
  6. Medical Examination: Candidates who clear all previous stages will go through a Detailed Medical Examination (DME). If declared unfit, you can request a Review Medical Examination (RME).

The recruitment rally is tentatively scheduled for July-August 2026 at Lokhra, Assam.

Responsibilities

  • Handle assigned patrol and guard duties along India's northeastern borders and internal security zones
  • Keep weapons, equipment, and personal gear in proper working condition at all times
  • Work with your unit during counter-insurgency operations, border patrol, and area domination tasks
  • Follow standard operating procedures for maintaining camp security and discipline
  • Assist in maintaining communication equipment and signal lines (for technical trade posts)
  • Manage inventory and store keeping of technical equipment and spare parts (for Store Keeper posts)
  • Prepare and maintain official records, correspondence, and clerical documentation (for Havildar Clerk)
  • Monitor and operate cipher communication systems to ensure secure message transmission (for Warrant Officer Cipher)

Exam Pattern

The selection process includes multiple stages conducted during the recruitment rally at Lokhra, Assam (tentatively July-August 2026).

Stage 1: Document Verification

Stage 2: Physical Standard Test (PST)
