The Andhra Pradesh Medical and Health Services Recruitment Board (APMSRB) has released Notification No. 05/2026 dated 31 March 2026 for recruitment to 58 posts of Professor (UG) and Associate Professor in Ayurveda and Homoeopathy under the AYUSH Department. These are contract appointments against regular sanctioned posts for a period of one year or until filled on a regular basis, whichever is earlier. Experienced AYUSH faculty — both in Ayurveda and Homoeopathy — across multiple departments can apply.

Who Can Apply?

For Professor (UG) — Ayurveda & Homoeopathy:

  • Qualification: Post Graduate Degree in the concerned subject/speciality from a recognised university or statutory board of State Government — must be a regular 3-year PG programme
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of teaching experience in the subject
  • Registration: Must be a permanent Registered Medical Practitioner in the concerned field as per the applicable law in the State
  • Note for Ayurveda: Only PG in the exact concerned subject is eligible — allied subjects are not accepted

For Associate Professor — Ayurveda & Homoeopathy:

  • Qualification: Post Graduate Degree in Ayurveda or Homoeopathy from a UGC-recognised university or institution — regular 3-year PG programme
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of teaching experience in the subject
  • Registration: Must be a permanent Registered Medical Practitioner in the concerned field
  • Note for Homoeopathy: Allied subjects are permitted — e.g., PG in Materia Medica, Organon of Medicine, Repertory, Pharmacy, or Practice of Medicine may be eligible for multiple departments

Other Requirements:

  • Domicile: Candidates from states other than Andhra Pradesh are not entitled to reservation benefits
  • Community certificates (SC/ST/BC) must be from competent authorities of Government of Andhra Pradesh

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 60 years as on 01-07-2025
  • No minimum age mentioned in the notification

Salary

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is entirely merit-based on a total of 100 points. There is no interview and no written exam.

  1. Academic Merit — 75 points: Based on the percentage of marks obtained in the PG qualifying exam. You must upload your AYUSH PG Marks Memo — if not uploaded, marks will be treated as zero and you will be considered ineligible.
  2. Post-PG Service — 10 points: Points awarded for each completed year of service after finishing Post Graduation (with requisite qualification)
  3. Contract Service Weightage — 15 points:
    • COVID-19 duty: 5.0 marks per six months (0.83 marks per month)
    • Tribal Area service: 2.5 marks per six months
    • Rural Area service: 2.0 marks per six months
    • Urban Area service: 1.0 mark per six months
    • Only service rendered in state government hospitals/institutions/programmes is counted. Service less than six months in a single spell is not counted.
  4. Tie-breaking: If two applicants score the same marks, the older candidate gets higher rank

Contract service weightage applies only for service in the same category of post for which you are applying.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned subjects as per the AYUSH department curriculum at Government medical colleges
  • Prepare lesson plans, study materials, and question papers for UG students
  • Evaluate student examinations, assignments, and clinical work
  • Guide students in academic, clinical, and research activities in Ayurveda/Homoeopathy
  • Conduct patient care and clinical demonstrations in the outpatient or inpatient department
  • Participate in departmental meetings, college committees, and administrative duties
  • Maintain academic records and submit reports as required by the institution

Minimum Qualification

Post Graduate Degree in Ayurveda or Homoeopathy (3-year regular programme) from a recognised university with teaching experience

Required Skills

Teaching experience in Ayurveda or Homoeopathy; permanent registration as Medical Practitioner in the concerned field
