Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Government Medical College and Hospital (CSM GMC), Satara, operating under the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Maharashtra, has released a recruitment notice for 37 contractual faculty posts across Professor (07), Associate Professor (08), and Assistant Professor (22) levels. These posts are to fill vacant positions on a contract basis for 364 days, or until a regular candidate is appointed, whichever is earlier. Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: Postgraduate medical degree (MD/MS or equivalent) in the relevant subject from a recognised university. Eligibility is as per NMC TEQ Notification dated 14/02/2022 (with possible update as per NMC TEQ dated 30/06/2025, once formally adopted).
• Professor: MD/MS in the relevant subject with requisite teaching experience as Professor/Associate Professor per NMC TEQ norms.
• Associate Professor: MD/MS in the relevant subject with requisite experience as per NMC TEQ norms (typically 5+ years post-MD including 4 years as Assistant Professor, plus 2 NMC-recognised publications).
• Assistant Professor: MD/MS in the relevant subject with at least 1 year Senior Residency after postgraduation, as per NMC TEQ norms.
• Registration: You must have a valid permanent registration under the Maharashtra Medical Council Act 1965 or the Medical Council of India (now NMC).
• Nationality & Domicile: You must be an Indian citizen and a resident of Maharashtra.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 69 years as on 18 April 2026 (date of appointment).
• There is no minimum age specified — standard NMC rules apply.
• Note: Retired faculty can apply on a contract basis under the terms of the Government Resolution dated 17/12/2006.

Salary

• Professor (Retired, Contract): Rs. 2,00,000 per month (Clinical, Satara) — as per Government Resolution dated 17/12/2006.
• Associate Professor (Retired, Contract): Rs. 1,85,000 per month (Clinical, Satara) — as per Government Resolution dated 17/12/2006.
• Assistant Professor (Contract, Lump Sum): Rs. 1,00,000 per month (fixed lump sum).
• Note: No additional service benefits or government perks are admissible for contractual appointments.

Selection Process

Selection is done through the following stages:

1. Screening of Applications: Applications submitted offline are reviewed for eligibility as per NMC TEQ norms and the notification criteria.
2. Interview / Walk-in: Eligible candidates are called for an interview at the CSM GMC Satara administrative office. You must be personally present for the interview and bring original documents.
3. Document Verification: All original certificates (educational, experience, registration) must be presented at the time of interview for self-attestation and verification.

Note: No written examination is conducted. Final merit is based on qualifications, experience, and interview performance as evaluated by the selection committee.

• Teach assigned subjects to MBBS and postgraduate students as per the approved NMC curriculum
• Conduct ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and patient care duties in the assigned clinical department
• Prepare lesson plans, lecture notes, study materials, and internal examination question papers
• Evaluate student assessments, practicals, and university examinations as an examiner
• Guide and mentor postgraduate students in research, dissertation work, and clinical training
• Attend departmental meetings, academic committees, and college administrative activities
• Maintain accurate records of teaching hours, patient data, and departmental activities as required
• Follow all DMER and NMC guidelines, hospital protocols, and Maharashtra Government service rules during the contract period
