If you have a Ph.D or a Master's degree in Genetics & Plant Breeding, you can attend the walk-in on 20 July 2026. The salary is Rs. 61,000 to Rs. 67,000 per month plus HRA.

ANGRAU Research Associate (Genetics & Plant Breeding) Recruitment 2026

Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) is a well-known state agricultural university in Andhra Pradesh that runs several research stations for crop improvement and farmer support. It has now called candidates for a walk-in interview to fill one Research Associate post in the Department of Genetics & Plant Breeding at its Agricultural Research Station in Yellamanchili, Anakapalle district.

The post is purely on a contract (temporary) basis for up to 11 months, or until a regular candidate is appointed, whichever comes first. As a Research Associate, you will support crop genetics and plant breeding research — running field trials, recording data, and helping with new crop variety work. There is no online application and no written exam — you simply attend the walk-in with your documents and appear before the selection committee. This opening suits both fresh Ph.D holders in plant breeding and experienced Master's degree holders who want hands-on research work at a government research station.

Who Can Apply?

You can apply through any one of the two routes below. All your degrees must be from ICAR-accredited universities or colleges only.

Route 1 — Ph.D Holders

  • You should have a Ph.D in Genetics & Plant Breeding. No prior experience is needed for this route.

Route 2 — Master's Degree Holders

  • You should have a Master's degree in Genetics & Plant Breeding along with a 4 or 5 year Bachelor's degree in first division (or an equal overall grade point average).
  • You need at least 3 years of teaching or research experience, shown through a Fellowship, Associateship, Training, or similar engagement.
  • You must have published at least one research paper in a Science Citation Index (SCI) or NAAS-rated (4.0 or above) journal.

Tip: For the Master's route, keep proof of your research paper and your experience letters ready, as these are checked at the walk-in.

Age Limit

  • Maximum age for men is 40 years.
  • Maximum age for women is 45 years.
  • The notification does not set a minimum age or a specific age cut-off date.

Salary

  • Rs. 61,000 per month + HRA if you join with a Master's degree.
  • Rs. 67,000 per month + HRA if you join with a Ph.D degree.
  • House Rent Allowance (HRA) is paid as applicable under university rules.

This is a strong pay package for a short-term research role, and it is higher if you hold a Ph.D.

Important Things to Know

  • The job is purely contractual for 11 months, or until a regular candidate is appointed, whichever is earlier.
  • This post gives you no right to a permanent job at the university or any government body.
  • You can leave by giving one month's notice, or by paying one month's salary in lieu.
  • The university can end the contract at any time without prior notice.
  • You must pass a medical fitness test at your own expense before joining.
  • The decision of the selection committee is final and binding.

Application Fee

  • The notification does not mention any application fee. Just attend the walk-in with your documents.

Selection Process

There is no written exam. Selection happens at the walk-in itself:

  1. Document Verification: The panel checks your original certificates when you arrive.
  2. Walk-in Interview: You appear before the selection committee for the interview on the same day.
  3. Medical Examination: Before joining, you must pass a medical fitness test at your own cost.

No TA/DA (travel money) is given for attending the walk-in.
