CMFRI Young Professional-I Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Visakhapatnam Regional Centre of ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) needs a Young Professional-I for a coastal study called "Baseline Study of Upputeru Creek Area, Nakkapalli Mandal, Anakapalli District, Andhra Pradesh — Rapid Impact Assessment Study (RIAS)". The study was suggested by the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (AP PCB) and is funded by Hetero Infrastructures SEZ Ltd. It is a purely contractual project post, so it fits a fresh fisheries, marine science, environmental science or zoology graduate who enjoys fieldwork.

The job is field-heavy. CMFRI wants someone ready for extensive travel and fieldwork along the coast, and the candidate must be proficient in Telugu. Experience with socio-economic surveys and stakeholder interactions is also on the wish list.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: One year or until the project ends, as per ICAR guidelines. The appointment ends together with the project, and other terms follow the revised ICAR guidelines for recruiting Field Assistants.
• Telugu: Proficiency in Telugu is required.
• Experience that helps: marine or coastal ecological surveys, collecting and analysing seawater, sediment and biological samples, knowledge of plankton, benthos, fisheries biodiversity and water quality, plus GPS, GIS/QGIS, socio-economic surveys, MS Office and statistical software such as R, SPSS or PRIMER.
• Place of work: Visakhapatnam Regional Centre of ICAR-CMFRI, with field trips to the study area.
• Early exit: The service can be ended even before the project closes, without notice, if your work is no longer needed or if funds run out.
• No regular job claim: The post is contractual, non-regular and time-bound.
• Shortlisting: The Director, ICAR-CMFRI fixes the criteria for shortlisting, and their decision is final.
• No travel allowance: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview. Hiding facts or canvassing leads to disqualification.
