AIIMS Vijaypur, Jammu has released Advertisement No. AIIMS/JMU/2026/STEPS-PROJECT/08 dated 24 July 2026 to fill 1 Project Technical Support – II post for the ICMR National Health Research Priority (NHRP) project titled “Strategies for Enhanced Population Engagement and Health Care Seeking for Prevention and Control of Hypertension and Diabetes in India: The STEPS-INDIA Multi-Centric Study”. This is a purely contractual position for 12 months, extendable based on your performance, project requirement, and budget availability. You will conduct health facility assessments, community surveys, and data collection as part of this multi-centric public health study, gaining hands-on research experience with ICMR.

The STEPS-INDIA study looks at how communities engage with and seek care for non-communicable diseases, so that health systems across India can design better prevention and control strategies for hypertension and diabetes. As Project Technical Support – II staff, you will directly contribute to this national health research effort by working closely with local health teams, Community Health Workers, and project investigators in Jammu and Samba district.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: You need a 3-year graduate degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Sociology, Public Policy and Administration, Community Health, Public Health, or Medical/Allied Sciences.
  • Experience: You must have 2 years of experience in the relevant subject or field, along with your degree.
  • Preferred: Previous experience in community-based intervention trials or health promotion interventions will be an advantage.
  • Category: This vacancy is reserved for OBC candidates. You must hold a valid NCL-OBC certificate issued after 1 April 2026 — certificates issued before this date will not be accepted and your candidature will be cancelled.
  • All educational qualifications and certificates must be from a recognized board or university. Work experience should preferably come from government organisations, though experience from reputed national or international organisations will also be considered.

Age Limit

  • You should be up to 30 years old as on the last date of advertisement (24 July 2026).

Salary

  • You will get a consolidated salary of Rs. 22,000 per month (Rs. 20,000 + 10% HRA) for the 1st and 2nd year of the project.
  • This is a fixed consolidated pay that does not increase automatically. It stays the same through the 1st and 2nd year of the contract, subject to project extension and continued availability of funds.
  • No other allowances beyond HRA are mentioned in the notification.

Selection Process

AIIMS Jammu will select the candidate through the following process:

  1. Shortlisting: If more than 10 applications are received for the post, candidates will be shortlisted based on past academic performance and research/public health experience.
  2. Provisional Eligibility List: A list of candidates found provisionally eligible will be uploaded on the official AIIMS Jammu website.
  3. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called in a 10:1 ratio (or as decided by the competent authority) for an interview at the AIIMS Jammu campus. The interview will assess your knowledge of Non-Communicable Disease Epidemiology, Hypertension, Diabetes, Research Methodology, Basic Epidemiology, Project Management, and quantitative/qualitative data management and reporting.
  4. Merit List: Final selection is based on your interview score. In case of a tie, seniority by date of birth will be considered.

Only shortlisted candidates will be informed by a call letter sent through email. Mere possession of the prescribed qualification does not guarantee a call for interview. The appointment is purely on a contract basis and will lapse automatically if not extended; it can also be terminated by either side with one month's notice or by paying one month's salary in lieu of notice.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct health facility assessments and community-level surveys
  • Collect data including transcription and translation of interviews and discussions
  • Organize and facilitate community engagement activities and meetings during the trial phase
  • Identify and mobilize community champions and local resources for project implementation
  • Monitor and verify data quality through regular follow-up
  • Assist in training community health workers, volunteers, and other stakeholders
  • Coordinate with project partners, local health authorities, and community representatives
  • Prepare field reports and contribute to project progress updates

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

3-year graduate degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Sociology, Public Policy and Administration, Community Health, Public Health, or Medical/Allied Sciences, plus 2 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualification

Previous experience in community-based intervention trials or interventions related to health promotion
