AIIMS Bhubaneswar was set up as an Autonomous Institution and Institute of National Importance under the AIIMS (Amendment) Act, 2012, which means it awards its own medical degrees and academic distinctions. The institute has released Advertisement No. DEANAC-25012/1/2023-DEAN ACADEMIC/5842 dated 4 July 2026 for 83 Senior Resident (Non-Academic) posts spread across multiple clinical departments. This is a tenure appointment under the Government of India Residency Scheme, 1992 for a period of 3 years. You can apply for up to 3 departments, but you must submit a separate application and fee for each department you apply to. Who Can Apply?

• You need a postgraduate medical degree — MD/MS/DNB/DM/MCh (as applicable to the department you are applying for, per the official annexure).
• Your qualifying exam result must be declared, and your qualifying degree tenure completed, by 31 August 2026.
• If your result is still awaited, you can appear provisionally, but your result must be available by 31 August 2026 or your candidature will be cancelled.
• You must have a valid Medical Registration Certificate before joining.
• The compulsory tenure period is 1,095 days (3 years) for MD/MS/MDS degree holders and 730 days (2 years) for secondary DNB degree holders.
• Candidates who have already completed 3 years of Senior Residency under the Central Residency Scheme are not eligible to apply.
• If you are working in a Government/Semi-Government hospital or PSU, you must apply through proper channel with a No Objection Certificate — you may be allowed to appear for interview provisionally only if you produce a certificate showing you have informed your employer.
• Reservation for OBC/SC/ST/EWS candidates is as per Central Government rules, with 4% horizontal reservation for PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities) candidates, including OPH. OBC candidates must submit a valid non-creamy layer certificate, and EWS candidates must submit a valid EWS certificate issued on or after 1 April 2026.

Age Limit

• The upper age limit is 45 years as on the last date of application (22 July 2026).
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST candidates get 5 years, OBC candidates get 3 years.
• PwBD Relaxation: General category PwBD gets 10 years, OBC PwBD gets 13 years, and SC/ST PwBD gets 15 years.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a salary of Rs. 67,700 per month under Level-11 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix.
• You will also get NPA (Non-Practicing Allowance) plus other usual allowances as admissible under rules.

Application Fee

• General / OBC: Rs. 1,770 (Rs. 1,500 + 18% GST) plus transaction charges as applicable.
• SC / ST / EWS: Rs. 1,416 (Rs. 1,200 + 18% GST) plus transaction charges as applicable.
• PwBD: No fee.
• Payment mode: Debit Card / Credit Card / Net Banking. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
• You must pay the application fee separately for each department you apply to.

Selection Process

The selection will be done as follows:

1. Written Exam: Held only if the number of applicants is more than 3 times the number of posts advertised for that department. If fewer applications are received, there will be no written test for that post — the Executive Director has full discretion on this.
2. Personal Interview: The merit list is prepared based on combined marks of the written test and interview, or on the interview alone (where no written test is held).
3. Document Verification: You must produce all original certificates, including your No Objection Certificate if you are in service, at the time of scrutiny. Candidates who fail to produce valid category certificates will have their candidature cancelled.

No TA/DA is paid to attend the interview, and any fee already paid cannot be claimed back later. Once selected, you will get 21 days to join the post, which can be extended by another 14 days in exceptional cases with proper justification.

4. Upload scanned copies of your Date of Birth Certificate, MBBS degree certificate, Internship Completion Certificate, qualifying degree certificate, and valid Medical Registration Certificate.
5. Pay the application fee online separately for each department.
6. Submit the form and keep a printout for your records.
