AGMC MRU Research Scientist and Laboratory Technician Recruitment 2026 - 2 Posts

Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC), through its Multidisciplinary Research Unit (MRU), has released a notice for 2 contractual posts under the ICMR project titled "Vector bionomics and vectorial capacity for Aedes and Anopheles mosquitoes and knowledge and behavioural practices for transmission and prevention of Dengue and malaria among the population of Karbi Anglong Districts and Dhalai Districts of Tripura". The appointment is purely temporary and tied to the project tenure. Candidates may have to travel between Assam and Tripura as per project needs.

Who Can Apply?

For Research Scientist-I (Scientist-B):

• Essential Qualification: M.Sc / M.Tech / Integrated PG degree in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or Life Sciences from a recognised University.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of research experience in ICMR / DHR / CSIR / DBT or any other project at a Medical College, University, or Research Institute.
• Publications: 2 research publications in the last 5 years (2021-2026) in SCI / Scopus / WOS / PMC indexed journals with a minimum impact factor of 1.
• Desirable: Experience in Dengue/Malaria vector work, molecular biology, parasite culture, microscopy, bioinformatics, data analysis, computer applications, and project management in a medical college or university research institute.

For Laboratory Technician:

• Essential Qualification: 12th in Science + DMLT / BMLT + 5 years of relevant experience.
• A BMLT degree is treated as equivalent to 3 years of experience. An MMLT degree adds another 2 years of experience credit.
• Desirable: Experience in government institutions, ICMR / DHR / IDSP / CSIR / DBT projects, Dengue/Malaria vector work, and computer applications.

Age Limit

• Research Scientist-I (Scientist-B): Maximum age 40 years
• Laboratory Technician: Maximum age 30 years
• Age is calculated as on 12 May 2026.
• Age relaxation will be given as per existing Government rules.

Salary

• Research Scientist-I (Scientist-B): Rs. 56,000 per month + HRA (as admissible).
• Laboratory Technician: Rs. 20,000 per month + HRA (as admissible).
• Payment is subject to actual realisation of funds in the project bank account.

Selection Process

Eligible candidates will be called for a written test followed by an interview:

1. Application Scrutiny: The Selection Committee will scrutinise all applications received by 20 May 2026.
2. Written Test + Viva for Research Scientist-I: Total 70 marks - Written Test (50 marks: Subject 40 + GK 10), Publications (10 marks: 5 marks per qualifying paper), Viva (10 marks).
3. Written Test + Viva for Laboratory Technician: Total 50 marks - Written Test (30 marks: Subject 25 + GK 5), Viva (20 marks).
4. Document Verification of original certificates.
