South East Central Railway (SECR), under the Personnel Department of the Divisional Office at Nagpur, has invited online applications under the Apprentices Act 1961 and Apprenticeship Rules 1992 for engagement of Act Apprentices for the year 2026-27. Who Can Apply?
- 10th Class: You must have passed Matriculation (10th class) with at least 50% marks in aggregate from a recognised Board.
- ITI / NAC: You must hold a National Trade Certificate (NTC) or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) in the notified trade, issued by NCVT or SCVT.
- 10th and ITI marks: You will have to enter both your 10th class marks and ITI marks on the apprenticeshipindia.gov.in portal exactly as shown in the downloaded Excel file — if either set of marks is missing, your application will be rejected.
- Engineering graduates and diploma holders are NOT eligible as they are covered under a separate apprenticeship scheme.
- Repeat ban: If you have already done apprenticeship in any organisation, you cannot apply again.

Salary (Stipend)
- You will get a monthly stipend as per the prescribed rates under the Apprentices Act, 1961.
- Training duration is 1 year only.
- No accommodation is provided by the Railway — you have to make your own arrangements.
- No daily allowance, transport allowance or travel allowance is paid for document verification.
Selection Process
Selection is fully merit-based — there is no written exam. The steps are:
- Merit List Preparation: A merit list will be prepared by averaging your 10th class percentage (minimum 50%) and your ITI marks in the relevant trade. For non-CBSE/ICSE boards, grade averages will be taken at the midpoint of each grade.
- Tie-breaker rule: If two candidates score the same, the older candidate gets preference. If date of birth is also the same, the one who passed matric first is preferred.
- Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must produce all original certificates for verification.
- Medical Examination: You must clear the Railway's medical fitness test before joining.
How to Apply
- Go to the NAPS portal at apprenticeshipindia.gov.in.
- Register yourself with full personal details and active email/mobile number.
- Enter both your 10th class marks and ITI marks exactly as they appear in the Excel file you download — wrong entries will cause rejection.
- Choose your preferred unit between Nagpur Division (E05202702695) and Motibagh Workshop, Nagpur (E05202702494).
- Upload your photo, signature, and required documents.
- Submit the application before 18 June 2026 (23:59 hrs).
- If you are SC/ST/OBC or Ex-Servicemen and the relevant option is not available on the portal, apply under your actual category and send a physical copy of your category/Ex-Serviceman certificate to the SECR Nagpur office.

Responsibilities
- Attend the prescribed 1-year apprenticeship training in your assigned trade at the railway workshop or division
- Learn practical maintenance and repair work under qualified railway technicians
- Follow safety rules and standard operating procedures while handling tools, machines and rolling stock
- Keep records of daily work logs, training sessions and skill assessments
- Assist senior technicians during scheduled inspections, breakdown attention and shop-floor jobs
- Maintain discipline, punctuality and prescribed dress code throughout the training period
- Appear in the trade test conducted at the end of the apprenticeship and obtain the proficiency certificate

Minimum Qualification
10th Class (Matriculation) with at least 50% marks + ITI / NAC / NTC in the relevant trade from NCVT or SCVT
Required Skills
Trade skills in fitter, electrician, COPA, welder, carpenter, turner, plumber, machinist or other notified trade as per ITI certificate
