DRDO CAIR Paid Internship 2026 - 50 Posts

Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR), a premier laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) under the Ministry of Defence, has invited applications for 50 Paid Internships for a duration of 6 months. CAIR works on Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Command and Control, and Information and Communication Security for battlefield mission-critical products. There is no written exam — selection is based on a weighted score of 10th, 12th, and B.Tech semester marks. Final year engineering students with First Division can apply.

Who Can Apply?

For Computer Science Internship (44 posts):

• Qualification: B.E. or B.Tech in Computer Science, IT, Information Science, AI-ML, or equivalent subjects
• Year: Final year (ongoing)
• Division: First Division required

For Electronics & Communication Internship (6 posts):

• Qualification: B.E. or B.Tech in Electronics & Communication or equivalent subjects
• Year: Final year (ongoing)
• Division: First Division required

Other Requirements:

• You must apply through your respective institute with a Letter of Recommendation (LOR) from the college head or Principal
• The LOR must confirm that your institute will allow you to complete the full 6-month internship (1 July to 31 December 2026)
• Selected candidates must submit a valid Police Verification Certificate at the time of joining

Stipend

• Monthly stipend: Rs. 5,000 per month (fixed)
• Total stipend: Rs. 30,000 for 6 months
• Paid in two equal installments: Rs. 15,000 after 3 months and Rs. 15,000 after 6 months
• Paid through electronic transfer only
• Lodging, boarding, transport, medical expenses must be borne by the intern

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection will be based on a weighted scoring system:

1. 10th marks (Physics & Maths): 10% weightage
2. 12th marks (Physics & Maths) / Diploma final semester: 15% weightage
3. B.Tech / B.E. semester percentages: 75% weightage (for all successful semesters completed)
4. Interview: Will be conducted if necessary for shortlisted candidates

3. Name the file as yourname+yearofbirth.docx (e.g. rahulkumar1988.docx).
4. Attach scanned copies of 10th marksheet, 12th marksheet, diploma marksheet (if applicable), all semester marksheets, Character Certificate, LOR from college head, CV, College ID Card, and Aadhaar Card.

• Contribute to development of mission-critical products for battlefield secure communication and information management
• Assist senior scientists with experiments, coding, testing, and data analysis
• Follow CAIR / DRDO security protocols and the Indian Official Secrets Act, 1923
• Maintain attendance and follow CAIR's working hours and rules
• Handle laboratory equipment carefully and report any damage
• Prepare project reports and present findings to the supervising scientists
