ICMR National Institute of Health Research (ICMR-NIHR), Jodhpur has notified temporary project posts under the project on identification of oral cancer biomarkers from saliva for early-stage oral cancer diagnosis. The post is suitable for candidates who can support lab-based molecular biology and biomarker work. The appointment is initially for up to one year and may continue up to project completion, depending on project need and approval.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• Option 1: Graduate degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biomedical Sciences or Genetics with 3 years post-qualification experience.
• Option 2: Post Graduate Degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biomedical Sciences or Genetics.
• Institute rule: Your qualification must be from a recognised institution or university.

Preferred Experience

• Molecular biology: Experience in DNA/RNA isolation, PCR/qPCR, gel electrophoresis and related lab procedures is preferred.
• Protein and biomarker work: Experience with ELISA, Western blotting or similar assays will help.
• Sample handling: Experience in handling human biological samples, especially saliva and clinical specimens, is useful.
• Research area: Knowledge of oral cancer biology, biomarker discovery or translational research is preferred.

Age Limit

• Maximum age is 35 years on the date of walk-in interview or written test.
• Age will be counted as on 8 July 2026.
• Age relaxation: Relaxation is admissible for SC, ST, OBC, retrenched government employees, departmental candidates, project staff and ex-servicemen as per Central Government, DoPT and ICMR rules.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get Rs. 28,000 + HRA per month on a consolidated basis.
• The notice states that project salary depends on the project sanction and availability of funds from the funding agency.
• This is a temporary project post, so regular benefits such as PF, LTC and medical benefits are not available.

Tenure and Work Location

• The post is temporary and initially for up to one year.
• It may be extended up to project completion, but the appointment can also end earlier depending on project requirement and approval.
• Place of work is ICMR-NIHR, Jodhpur, or any other project location in India if required by the project.
• You will not get a claim for regular appointment at ICMR-NIHR or continuation in another project.
• The selected person is expected to work for at least one month; the notice says salary already drawn may be forfeited if this condition is not met.
• Work area: The role supports laboratory and sample-handling work linked to saliva-based oral cancer biomarker research.

Selection Process

The selection process may include a written test and interview, based on the number of candidates reporting for the post.

1. Document Check: You must bring the filled application form, photocopies and all original certificates for verification.
2. Written Test, if needed: If more than 30 candidates report, ICMR-NIHR may conduct a written test. Qualifying marks are 35% for SC/ST and 40% for UR/OBC/EWS.
3. Interview: If a written test is held, generally up to the top 8 candidates for Project Technical Support-III will be interviewed.
4. Final Merit: Final merit will be based on written test and interview marks. If no written test is held, merit will be based on interview marks only.
