ICMR National Institute of Health Research (ICMR-NIHR), Jodhpur has issued a project recruitment notice for the post of Project Research Scientist-II (Non-Medical). The work is linked to the development and validation of a CRISPR-Cas integrated LAMP diagnostic test for rapid detection of antibiotic-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae. This is a temporary project position, initially up to one year and extendable up to project completion depending on project needs and approval.

Essential Qualification

• PG route: You need a Post Graduate Degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biomedical Sciences, Genetics, or Life Sciences with 3 years of post-qualification experience in the relevant subject.
• Ph.D. route: You can also apply with a Post Graduate Degree in the same subject areas along with a Ph.D. in the relevant subject.
• Recognised institution: Your qualification must be from a recognised institution or university.
• Experience counting: Experience will be counted only after completion of the minimum required educational qualification.

Desirable Skills

• Diagnostics work: Experience with Klebsiella pneumoniae diagnostics and CRISPR-Cas technology is preferred.
• AMR studies: Hands-on work in antimicrobial resistance studies, especially bacterial resistance profiling, will help your application.
• Molecular biology: Skills in nucleic acid extraction, qPCR, multiplex PCR, LAMP, gel electrophoresis, sequencing, and genome analysis tools are useful.
• Project handling: The role needs analytical thinking, troubleshooting ability, and project management skills.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: You should not be above 40 years on the date of the walk-in interview or written test.
• Age reference date: Age will be checked as on 8 July 2026.
• Relaxation: Relaxation is allowed for SC, ST, OBC, retrenched government employees, departmental candidates, ex-servicemen, and experienced project staff as per Central Government, DoPT, and ICMR rules.
• Project service limit: Candidates who have already worked in ICMR projects or ICMR institutes for more than 3 years are not eligible for this walk-in.

Salary

• The selected candidate will get Rs. 67,000 per month plus HRA on a consolidated project basis.
• The post is funded through the project, so salary payment depends on availability of project funds.
• This is not a regular ICMR appointment, so benefits like PF, LTC, medical benefits, and regular service continuation are not part of this project post.

Selection Process

The selection process starts with application and certificate checking at the walk-in venue. Only candidates found eligible after document checking can attend the interview or written test.

1. Document Verification: Your filled form, photocopies, and original certificates will be checked at the venue.
2. Written Test if Needed: If more than 30 candidates report, ICMR-NIHR may conduct a written test. Qualifying marks are 35% for SC/ST and 40% for UR/OBC/EWS.
3. Interview: If a written test is held, usually up to the top 5 candidates for this position will be called for interview.
4. Final Merit: Final selection will be based on written test and interview marks, or only interview marks if the written test is not conducted.

Important conditions: No TA or DA will be paid for attending the walk-in process. ICMR-NIHR can increase, decrease, cancel, or re-advertise the project position based on project needs. The date of interview or written test may also change for administrative reasons, so you should check the ICMR and ICMR-NIHR websites before travelling. Electronic gadgets, mobile phones, smart watches, study notes, and similar items are not allowed inside the examination or interview area.
