About This Job
ICMR-NIHR Jodhpur is hiring 1 Project Research Scientist-II (Non-Medical) for an oral cancer screening implementation research project. If you have a PG degree or PhD in Public Health, Dental Sciences or Population Sciences, you can attend the walk-in process. The reporting date is 8 July 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at ICMR-NIHR, Jodhpur. Salary is Rs. 67,000 + HRA per month, and the upper age limit is 40 years.
ICMR National Institute of Health Research Project Research Scientist-II Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post
ICMR National Institute of Health Research (ICMR-NIHR), Jodhpur has released a notice for a temporary project post under the project on optimizing oral cancer screening through capacity building of healthcare workers in Rajasthan. This is a project-based role for candidates who can handle public-health research, field coordination, training and data work. The post is temporary and initially for up to one year, with possible extension up to project completion.
Who Can Apply?
Educational Qualification
- Option 1: Post Graduate Degree in Public Health, Dental Sciences or Population Sciences with 3 years post-qualification experience in the relevant subject.
- Option 2: Post Graduate Degree in Public Health, Dental Sciences or Population Sciences with a PhD in the relevant subject.
- Institute rule: Your qualification must be from a recognised institution or university.
Preferred Experience
- Oral cancer or NCD research: Prior work in oral cancer, head and neck cancer, screening or early detection is preferred.
- Public health field exposure: Experience with Health & Wellness Centres, Ayushman Arogya Mandirs or Community Health Officers will help.
- Training and IEC/BCC: Experience in training, capacity building, communication activities, field coordination or stakeholder engagement is useful.
- Data skills: Hands-on work with data collection, management and analysis using SPSS, STATA or R is preferred.
- Writing skills: Ability to prepare technical reports, policy briefs and scientific manuscripts is expected for this level.
Age Limit
- Maximum age is 40 years on the date of walk-in interview or written test.
- Age will be counted as on 8 July 2026.
- Age relaxation: Relaxation is admissible for SC, ST, OBC, retrenched government employees, departmental candidates, project staff and ex-servicemen as per Central Government, DoPT and ICMR rules.
Salary
- Selected candidate will get Rs. 67,000 + HRA per month on a consolidated basis.
- The notice states that project salary depends on the project sanction and availability of funds from the funding agency.
- This is a temporary project position, so regular benefits such as PF, LTC and medical benefits are not available.
Tenure and Work Location
- The post is temporary and initially for up to one year.
- It may be extended up to project completion, but the appointment can also end earlier depending on project requirement and approval.
- Place of work is ICMR-NIHR, Jodhpur, or any other project location in India if required by the project.
- You will not get a claim for regular appointment at ICMR-NIHR or continuation in another project.
- The selected person is expected to work for at least one month; the notice says salary already drawn may be forfeited if this condition is not met.
Selection Process
The selection process may include a written test and interview, depending on how many candidates report.

- Written Test, if needed: If more than 30 candidates report, ICMR-NIHR may conduct a written test. Qualifying marks are 35% for SC/ST and 40% for UR/OBC/EWS.
- Interview: If a written test is conducted, generally up to the top 5 candidates for this post will be interviewed.
- Final Merit: Final merit will be based on written test and interview marks. If no written test is conducted, merit will be based on interview marks only.

Responsibilities
- Coordinate oral cancer screening research activities under the assigned project
- Plan training and capacity-building sessions for health workers and field teams
- Manage field coordination with Health & Wellness Centres and project stakeholders
- Collect, organise and analyse research data using approved tools
- Prepare technical reports, briefs, presentations and scientific manuscripts
- Monitor project progress and support timely reporting to the institute and funding agency
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Post Graduate Degree in Public Health, Dental Sciences or Population Sciences with 3 years experience, or PG degree with PhD in the relevant subject
Preferred Qualification
Experience in oral cancer or NCD research, Health & Wellness Centres, training, IEC/BCC, field coordination, SPSS/STATA/R, surveillance, monitoring and scientific writing.
