NIT Agartala, an Institute of National Importance established under the NITSER Act 2007, has released Advertisement No. 12052 dated 10 March 2026 for filling up Assistant Registrar, Assistant Librarian, Student Activity and Sports Officer, and Scientific/Technical Officer posts. Who Can Apply?

Assistant Registrar

Essential: Master's degree in any discipline with at least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA from a recognised University/Institute. OR Superintendent (SG-I)/Private Secretary (NFG) in PB-2 with GP Rs. 5400 having 2 years regular service, or Superintendent (SG-II)/Private Secretary (NFG) in PB-2 with GP Rs. 4800 having 5 years regular service with Master's degree.

Desirable: Qualification in Management/Engineering/Law; experience in E-Office system; CA/Cost Accountant (for Finance and Accounts).

Assistant Librarian

Essential: Master's Degree in Library Science/Information Science/Documentation Science with at least 60% marks or equivalent grade 'B' in UGC seven point scale AND qualified in NET/SLET/SET.

Desirable: PG Diploma in Library Automation and Networking or PGDCA; Ph.D. in relevant discipline.

Student Activity and Sports Officer

Master's Degree in Physical Education or Sports Science with at least 60% marks. Record of representing University/College at inter-University/Inter-Collegiate/State/National championships. Qualified in UGC NET and passed physical fitness test.

Scientific/Technical Officer

Essential: B.E./B.Tech/M.Sc. in relevant field (Computer Science and Engineering) or MCA Degree with first class or equivalent grade (6.5 in 10 point scale). OR Technical Asst. (SG-II) with 5 years service or Technical Asst. (SG-I) with 2 years service at NITA.

Desirable: Work experience in scientific equipment maintenance, system administration, software development; Ph.D. preferred.

Age Limit

• Maximum Age: 35 years (as on closing date of online application)
• Age Relaxation: Departmental Candidates - upto 5 years
• Reservation policy as per Govt. of India norms (SC/ST/OBC/PwBD relaxation applicable)

Salary

• Pay Level: Level-10 (7th CPC)
• Starting Pay: Rs. 56,100/- per month (Cell No. 01 of Level-10)
• Pay Band: PB-3 (Rs. 15,600 - 39,100) with Grade Pay of Rs. 5,400
• Promotion: After 5 years of service, assessed by DPC for moving to higher GP of Rs. 6,600 with same designation
• Plus DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Central Government norms

Selection Process

1. Screening of Applications - Shortlisting based on qualifications and experience. Institute may set criteria higher than the minimum advertised.
2. Screening Test (if applicable) - Conducted if applications received are large in number.
3. Written Test / Skill Test - As decided by the Institute.
4. Interview - Final round for shortlisted candidates.
5. Document Verification - Original documents with self-attested copies required at the time of test/interview.
