Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Engine Driver Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Indian Coast Guard has released a notification for 1 Engine Driver post at its Regional Headquarters in Sri Vijaya Puram, Andaman & Nicobar Islands. This is a General Central Service, Group 'C', Non-Gazetted post filled through direct recruitment, and the vacancy is earmarked for the EWS (Economically Weaker Section) category in this cycle. Indian Coast Guard is a multi-mission maritime force under the Ministry of Defence that handles search and rescue, maritime security and law enforcement at sea, and this post is for maintaining and running vessel engines. Candidates with hands-on marine engine experience and a valid Engine Driver certificate should apply through the postal route described below.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need to have passed Matriculation (Class 10) or an equivalent exam from a recognized board.
• Certificate: You must hold a Certificate of Competency as Engine Driver from a recognized Government Institute or equivalent authority.
• Desirable: Two years of experience as a Sarang on a vessel with over 400 Boat Horse Power is preferred but not compulsory.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 30 years old, calculated as on the last date for receipt of applications (11 August 2026).
• Age Relaxation: Government servants can apply up to 40 years. Ex-servicemen get relaxation as per orders issued by the Central Government.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a salary of Rs. 25,500 to Rs. 81,100 per month under Pay Level 4 of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
• You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Central Government rules.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in the following stages:

1. Scrutiny of Applications: Your application will be checked against the eligibility criteria and the required documents listed in the notification.
2. Document Verification: If shortlisted, you must bring your original documents along with two sets of self-attested photocopies.
3. Biometric Verification: Your thumb impression and photo will be captured during document verification.
4. Written Examination: Shortlisted and document-verified candidates will appear for a written exam.

How to Apply

1. Download the application format given in Annexure-I and fill it in English or Hindi.
2. Paste a self-attested colour photograph on the application form.
3. Attach self-attested photocopies of all required documents. Do not send original certificates.
4. Enclose a blank envelope with a Rs. 50 postal stamp, addressed to yourself.
5. Send the completed application by ordinary post to The Commander, Coast Guard Region (A&N), Post Box No. 716, Haddo (PO), Sri Vijaya Puram - 744102, Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
6. Make sure your application reaches within 45 days of the advertisement, by 11 August 2026.
