No. 02/2026 dated 14 July 2026 inviting doctors for engagement as Consultants at its Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) hospitals. SAIL is India's largest steel producer, with plants across Bhilai, Durgapur, Bokaro, Rourkela, Burnpur and Salem, and an annual turnover of more than Rs. 61,000 crore. The company needs 4 Specialists across Psychiatry, General Surgery, Orthopedics and General Medicine, plus 6 General Duty Medical Officers (GDMO) to serve at Ispat General Hospital in Rourkela, which looks after the health needs of plant employees and their families. Who Can Apply?

For GDMO (6 posts):

• You need an MBBS degree from a university/institute recognized by MCI/NMC/NBE, with your internship completed.

For Specialist Posts (4 posts):

• You need MBBS with a PG Diploma or PG Degree (MD/MS/DNB) in the relevant specialty — Psychiatry, General Surgery, Orthopedics or General Medicine — from a university/institute recognized by MCI/NMC/NBE.

• You must be an Indian national.
• You need a valid registration certificate issued by the Medical Council of India or your State Medical Council.
• Ex-employees of SAIL and other PSUs/Government departments can also apply, except those who took Voluntary Retirement.

Age Limit

• The upper age limit is 69 years for both GDMO and Specialist posts, as on 14 July 2026.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

The selection will be done in 3 steps:

1. Document Verification: Bring your original certificates and self-attested photocopies for verification at the venue. If you cannot produce your originals, you will not be allowed to appear for the interview.
2. Walk-in Interview: Appear for a personal interview with the SAIL selection panel.
3. Medical Fitness: Your final joining is subject to a medical fitness check.

Once engaged, your performance will be reviewed periodically, and SAIL's competent authority can extend or curtail your tenure based on how you perform, with one month's notice given to either side.

How to Apply

1. Download the Application Format (Annexure-A) from the notification and fill it in capital letters.
2. Paste a recent passport-size colour photograph on the form.
3. Reach the Conference Hall, Ispat General Hospital, Sector-19, Rourkela-769005 (Odisha) on 5 August 2026.
4. Report between 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM.
5. Carry your original certificates, mark sheets, registration certificate and ID proof along with self-attested photocopies.
6. Appear for document verification and the interview.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the walk-in interview. SAIL-RSP reserves the right to reject any application, cancel the selection process, or engage fewer doctors than indicated, without giving any reason. If any information you provide is found false, or you don't meet the eligibility criteria at any stage, your candidature can be rejected even after selection. If you're selected, any SAIL assets or equipment given to you during your engagement must be returned when the contract ends, and your Income Tax/GST will be handled as per applicable law. Any dispute regarding this recruitment falls under the jurisdiction of Rourkela courts.
