Patiala Family Court Counsellor Recruitment 2026: Overview
Family Court, Patiala is forming a panel of Family Counsellors and Child Counsellors for the district headquarters and the cluster courts at Nabha, Samana and Rajpura. The engagement works alongside judges handling marriage, family and child-related disputes under the Punjab Family Courts rules. This is a court-linked counselling role, so it suits experienced social-work, welfare, psychology or legal professionals who can stay neutral while helping families reach practical settlements.
The panel supports the court's effort to settle sensitive disputes through conciliation and guided discussion. Your work is not private legal representation; it is an independent support function focused on reducing conflict, understanding family circumstances and giving the judge a clear account of the counselling process.
Posts and Disciplines
- Family Counsellor: work with adults and families in matrimonial or household disputes, identify areas of agreement and support reconciliation without taking either party's side.
- Child Counsellor: focus on the child's welfare and emotional needs where a family dispute affects care, access, custody or the child's relationship with parents.
- District and cluster courts: choose the Family Court or taluka location where you want to be empanelled, with assignments available at Patiala, Nabha, Samana and Rajpura.
Post-wise Duties
Family Counsellor
You will meet parties referred by the court, explore the issues behind the dispute and help them work towards a peaceful, workable arrangement. You may advise on settlement options, support reconciliation and give the attached Family Court a report or interim report when asked.
Child Counsellor
You will bring the child's needs and welfare into the counselling process, speak with family members carefully and help the court understand concerns affecting the child. The role calls for patience, sound judgement and the ability to handle private family information with care.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Panel tenure: the initial empanelment runs for three years and may be extended by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
- Removal from panel: the High Court may remove a counsellor's name before the term ends without prior notice.
- Neutral role: a counsellor cannot act or plead for either party in the matter and must assist the court impartially.
- Court attendance: you must attend whenever the Family Court judge requires your presence and complete work assigned by the attached court.
- Integrity: the notice makes impeccable integrity an express condition of appointment.
- Travel costs: no TA or DA is paid for attending the candidate interaction.
