OPSC Assistant Public Prosecutor Recruitment 2026: Overview

Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) invites applications for Assistant Public Prosecutor under advertisement 09 of 2026-27. The recruitment is for Group B of the Odisha State Prosecution Service, under the Home Department, Government of Odisha. Check the advertisement number when registering so that your application reaches the correct recruitment.

Service context: The advertised appointment belongs to the state prosecution service under the Home Department. Advertisement 09 is intended for eligible practising advocates. A law degree alone does not establish eligibility: the notification also requires evidence of professional practice in the prescribed form.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Practice certificate: Obtain the experience certificate in Annexure B from the District and Sessions Judge. Keep your Bar Council enrolment certificate available along with the evidence of qualifying legal practice.
  • Sports reservation: The notice requires the prescribed certificate from the Director of Sports, Odisha. Other sporting certificates or awards do not establish the specified claim.
  • Answer language: The written papers must be answered in English except for the portion requiring translation into Odia.
  • Odisha reservation claims: The SC, ST and SEBC benefits specified in the advertisement apply to the eligible communities of Odisha. Your category claim in the submitted application is final, and the Commission may cancel a claim based on an invalid or subsequently cancelled certificate.
  • Horizontal reservation: The notified provisions for women and other eligible groups operate within the category distribution. They are not additional seats. If suitable women are unavailable, the notice permits eligible men of the same category to fill those seats.
  • SC/ST categories: The notification does not permit interchange of SC and ST reservation when suitable candidates are unavailable. The government may change the vacancy position according to public-service requirements.
  • Serving applicants: Inform the head of your office before applying and produce the required No Objection Certificate at document verification. An online application does not replace your employer's service requirements.
  • Provisional candidature: Admission to an examination remains provisional. Failure to meet the notified conditions can lead to cancellation when documents are checked, including after an examination or result.
  • Appointment: Inclusion in a selection list does not itself create an entitlement to appointment. The government must be satisfied about your suitability and the other notified requirements.
  • Fee refund condition: Where an examination fee is payable, the notice links its refund to applicants who appear in the Preliminary Examination. Registration alone does not meet this attendance condition.
  • Source document: Read advertisement 09 of 2026-27 on the official OPSC advertisement board. An accessible copy of the government notification PDF is also available. Use the official OPSC application service for submission.
