National Institute of Technology Warangal (NIT Warangal) Technical Assistant Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

National Institute of Technology Warangal (NIT Warangal) has released Advertisement No. 02/MME/GVSNR/GTRE/26-27 dated 29 July 2026 for 1 Technical Assistant post under a DRDO-GTRE sponsored project titled "Study of High Temperature Characteristics of Aeroengine Alloy under Long Term Exposure". The project is sanctioned for 3 years, and the selected candidate will initially be appointed for 1 year, extendable up to the full project duration based on performance and funding. No written exam is required for this post — selection is purely through shortlisting and an offline interview, which makes it a quick route into a government lab job for ITI/Diploma holders. As a Technical Assistant, you will help operate creep and stress rupture testing rigs, monitor load and temperature parameters, mount test specimens, and maintain safety logs for high-temperature aeroengine material research. You will work directly under the Principal Investigator, Dr. G. V. S. Nageswara Rao, Professor (HAG), in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, gaining hands-on exposure to a defence-linked research programme.

Who Can Apply?

  • Essential Qualification: ITI (Fitter / Machinist / Electrician / Instrument Mechanic) OR Diploma (Mechanical / Metallurgical / Electrical / Instrumentation) from a recognized institution.
  • Desirable: Exposure to mechanical, electrical or electronic instruments; basic computer skills for data entry and record keeping; familiarity with electrical panels, temperature controllers or digital displays. Prior experience in creep testing is not compulsory — you will be trained in-house.
  • You must be willing to follow written Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work patiently through long-duration tests, and observe strict lab safety practices around high-temperature equipment.
  • You should be available to visit the lab on Saturdays, Sundays or Institute holidays for short monitoring visits when ongoing experiments need it, and be ready to work beyond normal hours when experiments demand it.
  • You may occasionally need to travel for project-related activities, and any planned leave should be discussed in advance with the Principal Investigator so ongoing experiments are not affected.

Age Limit

  • There is no fixed age limit for this post — the age criterion is relaxable.
  • The institute prefers young, dynamic and active candidates, ideally below 25 years of age.

Salary

  • For the first 2 years, you will get Rs. 17,600 per month plus 20% HRA — around Rs. 21,120 per month in hand.
  • From the 3rd year onward, your salary increases to Rs. 22,000 per month plus 20% HRA — around Rs. 26,400 per month.
  • The institute does not provide accommodation for temporary project staff such as Technical Assistants, JRFs or SRFs.
  • The appointment is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project — it does not give you any claim to a regular position at NIT Warangal or with DRDO-GTRE.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in the following stages:

  1. Shortlisting of Applications: Based on the qualification, experience and documents you submit.
  2. Interview (Offline): Shortlisted candidates will be called for an in-person interview at NIT Warangal. The list of shortlisted candidates and the interview date will be published on www.nitw.ac.in.

There is no written exam for this post. If selected, you will undergo structured in-house training in creep testing, followed by a probation period of 6 to 12 months during which your performance, safety compliance and reliability will be assessed. Continuation of your appointment depends on satisfactory performance, conduct, attendance and project requirements, so read the general conditions in the notification carefully before you apply.

  1. Download the application format given in the official notification PDF.
  2. Fill in your personal details, qualification and experience in BLOCK LETTERS.
