NHSRC Lead Consultant IT Recruitment 2026: Overview

National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC), a technical-support institution under the National Health Mission and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, is hiring a contractual Lead Consultant for its Information Technology Division. The division supports national and state health programmes through digital platforms, information systems, data analysis and technology-policy inputs. This is a senior delivery role, not a routine software post: you will connect ministry priorities, state implementation needs and multidisciplinary technology teams.

The IT Division works on public-health portals used for non-communicable disease programmes, Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, training, Mobile Medical Units and nationwide health campaigns. Its broader aim is to help health teams use safe, connected and decision-ready information systems. The selected professional will report to the Advisor for IT and Integrated Planning and will be accountable for product lifecycles, major implementations and the technical evolution of the national Community Health platform.

You will lead Consultants, Senior Consultants and Delivery Leads while keeping local project delivery aligned with the organisation's wider objectives. The work combines technology leadership, delivery governance, incident coordination and stakeholder management. It also reaches beyond the office: state programme plans, field-visit data, health-information metrics and user feedback all feed into decisions about platforms and workflows. The role therefore suits someone who can explain technical risk clearly to senior officials while also guiding engineering, infrastructure, security, quality and support teams.

Training and knowledge sharing are another important part of the assignment. You will help build technology-focused learning systems for state teams, document practical innovations and encourage solutions that can scale across different settings. Product thinking and public-service delivery need to work together here, because a technically sound platform must also be useful to health workers, programme managers and policymakers.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Contract: The engagement runs until 31 March 2028, with similar extensions possible when performance is satisfactory.
  • Reporting: The Lead Consultant reports to the Advisor for IT and Integrated Planning and leads a multidisciplinary delivery team.
  • Work location and travel: The base is New Delhi, and the assignment involves travel to states and districts.
  • Qualification mode: Only regular, full-time degrees and postgraduate qualifications are accepted. Distance, online, part-time, correspondence, certificate and executive programmes do not count.
  • Experience counting: NHSRC will count only work completed after the relevant qualification.
  • Comparable openings: People selected through this interview may also be considered for other suitable NHSRC vacancies at an appropriate level.
  • Benefits: Consultants receive insurance support, approved mobile and laptop reimbursements, consolidated leave, applicable maternity leave, performance-linked increments and official-tour support under NHSRC policy.
