NHSRC Consultant ED Secretariat Recruitment 2026: Overview

National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC), an autonomous society working under the National Health Mission, is looking for a Consultant in the Executive Director Secretariat. The Secretariat coordinates technical inputs for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and takes up assignments based on the priorities of the Executive Director, NHSRC and the ministry. You will work where programme evidence, government communication and public-health decision-making meet. The role offers a broad view of health-system strengthening, reaching from central policy work to the practical challenges faced by state and district teams.

Your assignments may include preparing policy briefs, concept notes, reports and presentations, reviewing research or project material, and coordinating accurate responses for ministry and parliamentary matters. You can also join field visits to understand implementation barriers and turn those observations into clear analysis and constructive feedback. Alongside technical writing, the Secretariat needs close coordination across NHSRC divisions and MoHFW. This mix makes the post suitable if you enjoy translating complex evidence into documents that officials can use while managing several deadlines at once.

The role also expects thoughtful project management and sound judgement. You may help shape pitch decks, improve technical submissions and support early-career colleagues while keeping the team's output consistent. Strong quantitative and critical thinking will matter when you assess evidence or use statistical information. Your day-to-day contribution will connect research quality with practical delivery, rather than ending with a report that cannot be acted upon.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Contract: This is a fixed-term consultancy reporting to the Executive Director. NHSRC can extend the engagement for a similar period when performance remains satisfactory.
  • Work base and travel: New Delhi is the main workplace, while travel to states and districts will be part of the role when field review, monitoring or supervision is needed.
  • Cross-division work: You may coordinate with any NHSRC division and MoHFW team linked to an assignment, so priorities can change with the Secretariat's workload.
  • Delivery standard: You will need to manage a high volume of technical material with self-discipline, clear judgement and consistent attention to quality.
  • Professional support: The assignment can include guiding one or more early-career professionals as they build stronger research and documentation skills.
  • Similar roles: NHSRC may consider a person selected through this process for another vacant post that needs comparable skills at an appropriate level.
  • Benefits policy: The consultant benefits notified by NHSRC apply under its insurance, leave, reimbursement and official-travel rules.
