Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA) is engaging a Junior Associate (Marine) on contract in its Marine Department in Mumbai. The assignment brings experienced port staff into the department’s vessel and allied-equipment repair work. The engagement is contractual, with no provision for regularisation or permanent appointment.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract period: Your initial engagement will last one year. MbPA can extend it at its discretion, but the notice does not promise an extension.
• Exclusive assignment: You cannot take up another assignment while engaged by the port. You must also avoid outside advice, representation or activities that conflict with MbPA’s interests.
• Conduct at work: The port expects integrity, confidentiality and commitment to the assigned work. Unsatisfactory service or a conflict of interest can bring the engagement to an end.
• Confidential information: The Official Secrets Act, 1923 applies. You must not disclose information or data obtained during your engagement to anyone without authority to receive it.
• Public communication: Writing or broadcasting about MbPA’s official business needs prior permission unless it forms part of your authorised duties. The restriction also covers anonymous writing and work published under another person’s name.
• Record handover: Return the complete assignment records before your contract ends and before the port releases final payment. On termination, return port property, original records, copies and electronic information in your possession.
• Notice period: Either side can end the engagement with at least one month’s written notice. If MbPA uses this provision, it will not pay compensation for the unused contract period.
• Immediate termination: False information, deliberately hidden facts, misconduct, negligence or a serious contract breach can lead to termination without notice. Poor work, missed targets, lack of integrity or an adverse police report can also affect continued engagement.
• Travel costs: You will not receive travel or daily allowance for attending an examination or interview, if called.
• Recruitment decisions: MbPA can change the recruitment terms or cancel the exercise. It will post process changes on its website without sending separate updates to each applicant.
• Disputes: Any legal proceedings linked to this advertisement or an application must be brought before the relevant courts, tribunals or forums in Mumbai.
