MbPA Junior Professional Intern Recruitment 2026: Overview

Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA), under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, is engaging Junior Professional Interns for Administrative Assistance in its Civil Engineering Department. These are full-time contractual assignments in the department or its divisions in Mumbai. The Administrative Officer will decide the work according to departmental needs, and the engagement includes orientation training to help you settle into the assignment.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Contract length: The initial engagement is for 2 years. Subject to performance, MbPA may extend it by another 2 years after a 2-day break, with no further extension. Performance is reviewed every 6 months.
  • Full-time commitment: You cannot take another assignment during the contract. The joining declaration also rules out working for another organisation or enrolling in a course that needs classroom attendance.
  • Working arrangements: Normal office hours are 10 AM to 6 PM. Work needs may involve staying late or attending on holidays; a compensatory rest day is allowed for work on a weekly rest day or declared public holiday.
  • Leave: Casual leave is available for 20 days per calendar year on a proportionate basis. Unused leave cannot be carried forward or exchanged for payment, and absence beyond the entitlement affects your monthly payment.
  • Attendance: MbPA can terminate the engagement for absence exceeding the allowed leave by more than 15 days. Unsatisfactory attendance or failure to follow office timings can also end your contract and affect your experience certificate.
  • Work support: Bring your own laptop. MbPA will provide workspace, internet access and other support approved by the department. Orientation training lasts 1-2 weeks, and you will provide brief work reports at scheduled intervals.
  • Experience certificate: Successful completion can be recorded through the prescribed certificate. You will not receive an experience certificate if you leave before completing 1 year.
  • Integrity and privacy: You must sign the Integrity Pact, keep official information confidential and protect your login credentials. Confidentiality continues after the contract ends, and official-business publications need the authority's permission.
  • Outside representation: You need permission before using MbPA's name, emblem or seal. Dealings with third parties, banks or financial institutions on its behalf also need prior approval.
  • Ending the engagement: MbPA may give one month's notice or payment instead. You must give one month's notice to leave; poor work, missed milestones, dishonesty, false credentials or an adverse police report can lead to immediate termination.
  • Contract status: The engagement gives no claim to permanent employment. The notice also excludes compensation claims for service-related death, injury or illness under its stated conditions; read these terms before accepting an offer.
  • Recruitment discretion: MbPA may cancel the advertisement or reject applications without giving reasons. Updates will appear on its website, and disputes relating to this recruitment fall within Mumbai's jurisdiction.
