Kerala PSC Conservation Officer Recruitment 2026: Overview
Kerala Public Service Commission (Kerala PSC) is recruiting a Conservation Officer for the State Archives Department through a statewide special drive. This is a regular Kerala Government Service role focused on protecting archival material through scientific conservation rather than general clerical record keeping. The work connects chemistry, preservation practice and public-record stewardship, so it is aimed at experienced conservation professionals who can handle fragile historical records responsibly.
The post sits within a department that preserves the documentary memory of the state. You should be comfortable applying laboratory knowledge to paper and record conservation, recording treatments clearly and supporting long-term storage decisions. Experience claims receive close scrutiny, because the Commission requires them to be backed by the prescribed institutional and official declarations.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Special recruitment: This selection is restricted to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates of Kerala. Applications from outside these communities will be rejected without an individual rejection message.
- Ranked-list operation: The list normally remains active for at least one year and up to three years, subject to the publication of a fresh list after the minimum period. It may also be used for further SC/ST special-recruitment needs reported while it is valid.
- Scheduled Tribe vacancies: The list may serve an ST-only opening when no separate ST list is available or a separate selection is not already under way. If the list has no ST candidate, Kerala PSC will issue a fresh ST-only notice.
- Degree recognition: The master's degree must come from a UGC-recognised university, with the course accepted by a university in Kerala. If you rely on an equivalent or higher qualification, keep the relevant government order ready for scrutiny.
- Experience verification: Conservation and chemistry-research experience must follow the formats in the notice. The employer's registration details and an authorised inspecting officer's declaration form part of the verification trail; false certificates can lead to legal action.
- Probation: After joining, you will complete two years of probation within a continuous period of three years.
Application Submission Notes
Apply through your Kerala PSC One Time Registration profile and use only one profile. A new profile needs a recent photograph carrying your name and the date it was taken; add Aadhaar as identity proof if you hold an Aadhaar card.
Check every profile entry before the final click because a submitted application cannot be deleted or changed. Keep a printout or soft copy, quote your User-ID in later communication and note that profile corrections made after the cut-off affect only future transactions.
Enter the prescribed experience-certificate particulars in your profile and upload the scanned certificates before applying. Kerala PSC can call for original proof of qualification, experience, age and community during scrutiny, so the online claims and supporting records must match.
