KEA Principal Recruitment 2026: Overview
Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) is conducting a competitive recruitment for Principal posts in Government Pre-University Colleges under the School Education Department. The notification covers the Residual Parent Cadre and is meant for lecturers who are already serving in the state's government pre-university college system. This is an in-service leadership opportunity, not an open recruitment for fresh teaching graduates.
The role moves an experienced lecturer from classroom-focused work into academic and institutional leadership. You would be responsible for the college's teaching standards, staff coordination, student services, records and compliance with department instructions. The vacancy classification and reservation roster are handled separately by the Government and the School Education Department, while KEA manages the application and examination process.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- In-service restriction: Only lecturers working in Karnataka Government Pre-University Colleges can use this recruitment route. Your service record must show that you have completed the required period in the lecturer cadre.
- Probation record: You must have completed the prescribed probation satisfactorily before the eligibility cut-off. A pending or incomplete service record can affect scrutiny even if the online form is accepted.
- Language requirement: Knowledge of Kannada is central to the post and to the language paper. Any exemption from a compulsory Kannada test must be supported by the applicable government rule or certificate.
- Computer literacy: The notification refers to the computer-literacy requirement under Karnataka service rules. Keep the relevant pass record or valid exemption ready for scrutiny.
- Reservation claims: Category, rural, Kannada-medium, transgender and disability claims are considered only when you upload the prescribed certificates. A reservation choice in the form does not replace the supporting document.
- Cadre scope: This notice is specifically for the Residual Parent Cadre. Check the separately published roster before selecting a claim tied to cadre or reservation status.
Your examination result does not by itself create a right to appointment. KEA and the appointing department will compare your form with service and reservation records, and a mismatch can remove your name from consideration. The final recommendation remains subject to the applicable Karnataka civil-service and education rules.
Application Submission Notes
Use the KEA recruitment page for Government Pre-University College Principals. Only one online application is allowed, so review your name, service details, reservation choices and contact information carefully before final submission. KEA does not accept a printed application at its office.
Upload a clear recent photograph and signature in the sizes requested by the portal. Your supporting records should include the service certificate issued through the competent drawing and disbursing authority, along with identity, date-of-birth and reservation documents that apply to your claim. Candidates using Kannada-medium, rural, disability, transgender or non-creamy-layer benefits need the matching prescribed certificate.
Keep the mobile number and email entered in the form active because KEA uses its website and candidate contact details for examination updates. Once the form is submitted, changes are generally not accepted, and fee payment does not cure an incomplete or inaccurate application.

- Lead academic planning and daily administration of the assigned government pre-university college
